Most often I, and the guys in my club, have a cycling issue it's been down to the big loop lever while not wearing gloves. For that reason the only big loop I have is a cold weather hunting rifle. Otherwise the original size lever functions much better. There's just less movement of my 3 fingers in the lever. I have XL hands and still find the original size lever better for glove less shooting.

It should be a great Iowa deer gun. Traditionally Iowa has been a shotgun slug only deer hunting state, but with laws passed we can now use straight wall rifle cartridges such as this and 350 legend and 450 bushmaster along with 357 and 44 magnum cartridges. Looks like a terrific rifle which will be hard to get a hold of due to Rugers inability to produce them faster than the demand requires. Good thing for Ruger, bad for the buyers.

Nice range demo, Mr. Drake. I love aperture sights mounted as far back on the receiver as possible. The one that comes on the Marlin 1895 appears to be large enough to be considered a ghost ring sight. The fiber optic front sights are easy to pick up for 64 year old eyes. Got them on a couple of my guns. Love them. My impression of the size and regulation of those sights, is that they aren’t meant for accuracy on small targets out past 100-200 yards. What do you think?
@drdrake63
2 жыл бұрын
I agree. I think for a decent iron site shooter they are effective for the range of the round. These rifles were not designed to shoot pretty groups. They were designed for portability and quick cycling first, tack driver second (my opinion)

It has deep bluing, nice walnut, and great fit and finish! It is Tack driver as well! I like the new Ruger Iron sights better than what mine came with! It now has a NOS American made Burris Fullfield 3x9 scope on it. I would love to get my hands on a new Ruger made Marlin. I would love to have one in 44 Rem Mag! 45-70 is a bit much for short range whitetail deer but a 44 Rem Mag would be perfect!

Oh hell yeah!!! I can see you riding your horse from DelRio Tx crossing the Mexican border to the nearest village which hired you to protect them from the cartel. They want to see your shooting skills and you take your 1895 from the scabbard and start trimming the hedges with it. The towns people gather around you and want to see more of what you can do at longer range. Mr Rodrigez rides out 700 yards and lays his sombrero on the road and you shoot it with only one shot. Others put their sombreros out 800, 900, even 1500 yards out and you never miss the plethora of sombreros. Lovely senioritas come out and bring you XX beers for celebration of your feats. They throw a feast for you and as you are eating a giant turkey leg you smile from one greasy cheek to the other and say with a gun such as this el Guapo doesn't have a chance. You then throw the bone at some cigarette smokers that offends your senses.
