Sorry for the long hiatus. I am super behind on life in general, so editing is happening slowly. I hope to get back on track for two videos a month!

Thank you so much!! Happy new year! Sorry for the slow posting. We have two more island videos on the way, but it's difficult to find time to edit them these days due to the huge influx of tourists and workshops I've been doing. Thank you being a fan!! :)

It's great to see the whole process and the different photos you took throughout the evening; it would have been really at the end of you to each select your favourite image you took, and maybe a short explanation about why that was your favourite from the ones you took? Could then also show the different artistic interpretations of what was the same scene, light, etc., albeit with a different camera and lens

Thank you so much!! I think that's a nice idea, to talk a bit a bout the results, and not just the process! :)

Another entertaining and instructional video. It's also fun to hear the two of you discuss technique and opinions on composition. This video has me questioning one of my long held "truths" regarding tripod use though. I have a large CF Gitzo and a small aluminum Peak Design travel tripod, obviously suited for very different purposes. I've always "heard" that all tripods share one thing in common: the weak point where they begin to lose some stability is when extending the center column. (in fact, my Gitzo doesn't even have one) But you two very fine photographers seem to be making beautiful images in spite of that concept, even in somewhat windy conditions. Seems like I've been overthinking it all this time. Keep up the great work.

Thank you! Regarding the tripod, you are right, the weak point is the center column, but even so it does not mean it's totally useless! Basically, as with everything in photography, push the limits, break the rules, and do what works for you! :)

@@EYExplore Yes, it's always a good idea to test the "rules". Otherwise how do you know if they're worth following or not.

You’re a darn good photographer. That said, the Z9 color looks better than real. Awesome camera. Too bad I’m stuck on film with an F5 and even a Wista SP 4x5 camera. See you after I run out of E100.
@EYExplore

Thanks!! Of course, I did some editing on these. The sunset was not quite so pink, but I took some artistic liberties. That 4x5 sounds awesome! :)

Appreciate the change of pace and venue, Lukas. Waiting for more favorable clouds a landscape photography good practice. Typhoon season = good photo ops, drama, IMO. Somewhat surprised with how you leaned your tripod against the railing - would expect traffic vibrations to be an issue, especially at slower shutter speeds. When using Auto-ISO, what are your high/low ISO settings and shutter limits? Some cams don’t display the cam-selected Auto ISO value until shutter-half press. Is that the case with your Nikon?
@EYExplore
Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Vibrations might've been an issue with those super long exposures we did at the end, but for most shots it doesn't matter as the shutter speed was not quite that slow. But even then, as long as the bridge doesn't bounce I think it's fine. For Auto ISO my range is from 64 to 6400 and my min shutter is 1/250. This Nikon always displays it as long as the camera is 'awake' but eventually it goes into stand-by mode and stops metering.

I'm not sure if it's the post editing or image profile chosen in-camera, but the colors on the Z9 shots look amazing compared with those on the Z6ii.
@EYExplore

It's all about editing! I think I could get the same colors from Z6/Z7 raws. We just edited our shots differently. I would say Chica's are actually more realistic. I took some artistic liberties and made the sunset a bit more pink than it was. :)

Sure! You mean by leaning it on the railing? I just lean forward if I want to see over the railing, otherwise it's impossible too look down.
