The new Bose S1 Pro Plus has 105.3 db volume, weight is 14.9 lbs., Bluetooth 5.0. Battery lasts longer, takes longer to charge as well. Still no mid control or master volume. Priced the same as the original S1 Pro reviewed here. The Fishman Loudbox Mini Charge bag currently sells new for $134.95 so you are right about the great customer support. The new Bose S1 Pro Plus bag sells new for $160.00. The Fishman and Bose speakers are so close in size that you could use the Fishman bag for either one. If you like the roll-around option of the first speaker, you can drop either the Fishman Loudbox Mini or the Bose S1 Pro Plus into a wheeled carry-on suitcase and have room for lunch, a jacket or microphone and pedals. $60-$70 at Marshalls, Ross or TJ Maxx.

The Behringer Mpt40 is awesome, its also lead acid, which is no problem. Having no effects sucks. But it's so cheap and sounds really awesome, I used bass guitar backing tracks out of it and it sounds so good. I think it's the best bang for your buck in this review, it's built like a tank, weight 20.5lbs. It's perfect if your not overly serious about music. In my mind a speaker lacking low end ain't worth a dime. The behringer got lost of low end, and lots of high also, also it's got wireless mic built in. You just plug in a usb which acts as a antenna. The Bluetooth works flawless. I've had mine over 2 years, I really love it.

Carrying a Bose speaker hiking is funny. Your suggestion has me laughing and crying at the same time because surely there are idiots who will take you up on that suggestion. Reminds me of an overnight backpack trip up to Half Dome in Yosemite. We were out in the wilderness enjoying the sounds of nature, the babbling stream, wind sighing through the pines, crackling fire, quiet conversation, when a guy, who was obviously unclear on the concept, comes traipsing through the area with a huge boom-box stereo perched on his shoulder, making new enemies with every step as he passed.

It’s ideal to have 15 inch tops and 18 inch subs. But not everyone has the space for that and sometimes setup time is a huge factor. Some of us musicians carry and setup our own gear and there are times where we have less than 5 minutes to setup and we have just a couple minutes to teardown and go to the next gig. Small battery powered speakers are a game changer for some of us.
@WWeiss-nv5vz
3 жыл бұрын
Another important advantage of the Bose S1 Pro: It has a dispersion of 120 degrees. A typical point and shoot 12 inch speaker covers only 75 degrees. My best speaker the QSC K8.2 has only 105 degrees. What this means is that the Bose will cover a larger audience space, especially with one speaker.

Been busking and gigging for over 30 years. Had an AER for over twenty years - I had always thought it was unbeatable in terms of sound. Then it went in to be repaired so I needed a new one . I bought an Acus one for street and the Fishman mini charge. Both of these have a better/warmer sound for acoustic guitar and just about as good for vocals. I tested the Bose but found it pretty weak and simply lacked the presence I get from the Acus , Fishamn and he AER - kind of meh hifi sound.. I also tried the JBL and it simply didn't sound natural. Btw, the AER combo suffers from an almost uncancelable(new word) thick mid that made my guitar sound boxy.. The Acus and Fishman are absolutely top! Sorry but didn't agree with you Mr Weiss but appreciate the hard work you put into this video. It's a very subjective thing I guess - I think many consumers are too much in awe of the Bose name . I have the small L1 for little gigs and it's really ok but the little one is seriously over-rated..

I did not mention the Elite Acoustics line. They are very well regarded by the Acoustic Guitar Forum. I have never heard them. You don't need stereo for live music! If you are concerned with volume, I would go with QSC CP8 or new EV ZLX-8P-G2. Both $500, EV has a great App/Bluetooth/DSP. QSC has Pro reputation with 6 year warranty vs 3 years for EV. Both great choices! Yamaha DBR10 at $400 is the bargain, like QSC no App/DSP but 7 year warranty! Yamaha has a smoother midrange than QSC or EV but recessed highs in comparison. Personal preference. I've reviewed all of these on my channel. For the price of two S1 Pros you can go with the EV 30m, the most popular column array on the Acoustic Guitar Forum. Bose Pro 8 another great choice.

Fellow reviewer's comment: I actually did a full compression between S1 PRO and COMPACT, S1 PRO is absolutely louder, and with better limiter, when EON ONE COMPACT limiter kicks in, you can hear the sound pressure is floating, I mean when bass or drum comes, the compressor kicks in and lower the sound level, then it releases you hear sound level coming back, JBL did realy bad job on the DSP limiter or compressor, also the COMPACT has a very limited high frequency output, makes it not as clear as S1 PRO at maximun output level, what they both suck is that they both uses a ADI 1452, which brings a toy fell reverbration, also no feed back cancelling at all,
@2towsmusic
2 жыл бұрын
well that's actually not true about the maximum loudness. The Compact boasts 112 db of maximum loudness, while the S1 is 109 db. Although the Compact has the edge the difference is negligible if we're being honest. Not sure what you mean also when you say you did a "full compression". Did you meant comparison? I personally think the JBL has the advantage because it's more feature rich, with more inputs, sounds better to me and has a nifty app, which the Bose does not. As a DJ I don't want to have to walk back and forth to my speaker making adjustments.

I usually don't hear any distortion when the clip light starts to blink red. Some people say if its not solid red its ok. If you call the manufacture they will say turn it down when it clips red to prevent damage. JBL Tech said playing in the red can burn the voice coil and their repair center can tell if you played too loud and it will void your warranty. Best thing is to get a speaker that has more than enough headroom for your application, then you will never have to worry about clipping.

None of these would handle more than 50 people. If you need internal battery go with JBL MK2 for 100 people max. 150 people maybe EV30m, Bose Pro8, Turbosound iP300, QSC CP8, Yamaha BDR10. Really depends on your budget and max weight you are willing to carry. Do you want a column system with everything built in or are you willing to carry a mixer? 150 people outdoors probably needs the next step up: JBL PRX ONE, EV50, Bose Pro16. Many choices, let me know more info and I can help you narrow it down.

JBL just lowered the Compact another $100 to $529. They might be blowing them out for a new model? This happened with my Eon One Pro that I bought for $1,200. Before they came out with the new MK2 they blew it out for $600!
