That's great work Robert, it came out really well and will allow you to get to every part of the car.

Center of the gas cap might be correct for a fastback. Sposed to add 50 lbs or so. Nice work Robert.

That's great work Robert, If I ever need a Rotisserie I will built something like that

Thanks. It really makes life so much easier. Also I forgot to mention you can also use the hub bearings for FWD cars that have the bearing mount and axle flange all as one assembly. Just get the cheapest used or ebay ones for any car and they will also support much more weight than the bearing housings I used but a little more difficult to mount. The 80s-90s GM style ones are dirt cheap new and would work well.

Looks like a fun project! Mind letting me know how high off the floor the pivot point needs to be to clear the ground? Thanks!

I have my pivot point at 43". It could go a hare lower but not much. The top of the lower part of the radiator support is 7.25" below the pivot. On the rear the pivot is about at the curve where the tail panel goes flat against the trunk floor pan. This balances pretty well on a 65-66 coupe. A vert and fastback will be different.

@@theinfernalcraftsman right on, thanks. Down the road I’m considering a rotisserie for my 67 FB. Definitely lots of measurements to be made, but that gives me a rough idea

@@evansmessygarage Nice. At the time I couldn't justify the cost of a rotisserie as I could almost buy a 2 post lift for the same price at the time... Not sure if the fastback would be higher lower than a coupe. I just kept lifting with the adjusters until it balanced out.

When turned upside down, is there something inside the upper adjuster-nut tubes to keep it from sliding? Perhaps something I missed in a previous video. DK. Retired.

There is a large flanged nut inside the tube that is welded to the coupling nut. The flange is against the tube so when you tighten the shaft into the nut it clamps the side of the tube between the nut and the washers/shoulder of the shaft. The nut is also a locknut so once you run it in there it stays put. It has not come loose at all despite me spinning the car like it's a carnival ride...

@@theinfernalcraftsman I found that video. Thanks because it does not have to be built for a Tahoe, just a empty C10 cab off a 67. Call me crazy, but using the BCM to control power windows, lock-out protection, RKE, light and much more. My youngest found out what black ice will do to an 03 Tahoe. Towed to my backyard, didn’t know what happened, but he said take what you need. I did!

is there a part number on the jack (?) shafts from the lawn mower?

The ones I used are 532187292. I bought them at the sears outlet stores when they were closing and got them really cheap. There are many that you can make work. Though I would recommend using something like a FWD car hub instead as they are much stronger. But I was being cheap and it fit the purpose on a light weight car body.

I wouldn't build it for anyone else just due to liability reasons. It's fit for my purpose but may not be for someone else.

@benharper1682 It's 2" medium wall square tube 1.5 would be smaller than I would be comfortable using.

How high from floor to rocker for clearance when rotating (I have 67 so I'm assuming to made a few for inches)
@theinfernalcraftsman
6 ай бұрын
The 67 is about 3" wider at the mod to top of door area. Same floor pan though. I don't know exactly how high it was but if I were to do an educated guess the ponchweld was around 36" off the floor. There are the dimensions of the pivot points in a comment I left for another and you can use that to roughly calculate the flange height. I still had way more than enough room. A 67 wouldn't have really been any different on it from my perspective.
