It is such a pleasure to hear someone enjoy their KLR as much as I do mine! I am tired of listening to riders get this bike after all the info that is out there and still complaining and wishing it was a KTM for the same price!!! I hope you continue to enjoy this bike for years to come. I'm on my second KLR and knew what I was buying.

Michael, Thanks! And YES...I am having a blast....a 12 year old trapped in the body of a 51 year old! I agree....It is not a KTM....but at least you dont have to carry an extra fuel pump with you like that KTM...lolo Thanks for watching, Shorty

its really good they made a slightly shorter one for 2023. I have a 22 adventure and don't have to deal adversely with the height but I always thought it was a shame that the KLR was a turnoff for so many previously because of the seat height. I've been commuting with mine here on Oahu for roughly a year and 10k miles and I've been extremely happy with it. Sure, it doesn't make huge power or do anything extremely well but for some reason it never fails to make me smile. You've got it set up really nice and will provide many smiles and miles. Aloha 🍍🌴

28” inseam here, also. I bought the same model back in December and I’m really enjoying it. The KLR is a really comfortable bike to ride. Yours looks really good with all your stuff on it. I look forward to more from you.

I had a 2002 klr650, 5 speed. I wasn't terribly excited about it as it didn't excel either on the hwy or offroad. My how they've changed!

Awesome! I'm just under 5' 9", but have virtually the same inseam as you...when I'm wearing my riding boots! (Long torso, short legs, and short arms makes finding clothes and bikes to fit pretty difficult.) I tried a friend's older KLR that he had put a lowering kit in (rear), slid the forks up in the triple tree, and recontoured the seat foam. I could actually flat foot it, so been planning on doing one up like his. Wish I could find an S to try, but none around in Wyoming. BTW, I subbed, since it's nice to find a Motovlogger who doesn't have legs that come up to my armpits...

just discovered your video a couple of days ago. like you, I'm vertically challenged. discovered motocamping in 2019. the only dual purpose bike that I could reach the ground was on a RE Himalayan which I purchased the same year. I 've gone camping with her a couple times already. but I also use her for commuting. she is a little under powered for highway riding. maybe the klr 650s might be a future prospect. maybe more companies should pay more attention to us "shorty's". be safe.

Looks great Shorty! I picked up exact same 650 S and wanted to outfit it like you have done but have been unable to get my hands on the tusk crash bars so today purchased the T-Rex bars and skid plate. Hopefully at some point the Tusk Olympus panniers come back in stock. I’ve enjoyed all your videos.

I’m so happy for you! I’ve always had the same challenge, but now I think I know what I want. You’ve done exactly what I want to do, too! As far as the pricing in my area goes, the thieves - I mean dealers bought up all the competition in the state and add almost $4k to the purchase price through additional fees, and Kawasaki won’t do anything about it. That’s worse than a 37” seat height! Once I can get over that, I believe I’ll be swinging my leg over the KLR 650S. Keep those videos coming, and stay safe, brother.

The skinny is, I traded a Harley for 2, 2022 KLR650 Adventure models straight across. I purchased a third 650, an "S" model. Recently, I took the S on a 2 day, 925 mile ride, all Interstate. A GoCruise throttle lock, National Cycle tall VStream windshield and a Seat Concepts Commuter Low touring seat helped immensely. KLR's can do it.

Reminded me of my first ride on my '23. I have the same color as you do! That long 5th gear takes some time getting used to indeed. I used the motoman method for breakin and im at 800 miles now just hitting some of my first dirt. I also thought adequately of the front brake but 4 months into riding it around and getting more confident I now understand why people have gripes about it. In corners it leaves something to be desired imo. Be wary of the footman loops on the boxes, they tend to rattle loose. I lost one and then loctited everything else immediately lol

I had a 22 standard height I installed a 16 tooth front sprocket it gives it that 6 spd feel. I sold it bought a 2020 versys 1000 witch is for sale. I'm going to buy a KLR 650s version I'm 5'8 I think I would be more comfortable on the 650 also I've owned several 650's I sell them try something else and go back to them. They are just the best for me.

Congratulations on the new ride. I wonder if there is any slight vibration at the foot pegs / handles at speed or 70mph? Anyway the bike looks really cool and there is almost none touring/adventure/travelling bike out there that friendly to more vertically challenged people like me at much moderate price /weight. Enjoy the journey!
