I love Alice's Adventures. I've already read them way to much but I might pick it up again this Victober xD I was really shocked when I read Jekyll and Hyde. With the popular culture around it I thought I knew what to expect when I picked it up but I found it so much more complex than I'd been expecting. Great video :)

Hello, so happy to have found your channel! Love the shorter reads recommendations. I'd like to add one thing about Mrs Oliphant's Carlingford series. Carlingford is actually first mentioned in Oliphant's short story called "The Executor", and was followed very quickly by "The Rector" (which you mention), and that is followed by "The Doctor's Family." I read all 3 last month. One thing about reading "The Executor" first, is that it gives some background to the doctor of "The Doctor's Family." They are all quick reads ("The Doctor's Family" being the longest at about 160 pages). I've really enjoyed this series and plan to continue with it. I'm so sorry that I didn't find "Victober" until the end of the month, but I did read "Orley Farm" earlier this month, so I participated without even knowing it. "Orley Farm" was a great read--sort of Trollope's take on the legal profession or perhaps his answer to "Bleak House." Loved it.

@@katiejlumsden Yes, I'm on a "mission" to read all of Trollope's novels. I read the Barchesters and the Pallisers, and now I've gone back and am reading all the other novels in order. Very interesting to see the development over time. I don't know if you have a LibraryThing account (it's free now!), but there are a few of us that do a group read of a Trollope novel (in order) about every six months. We have a wonderful leader (Liz) who is quite knowledgeable about Trollope and Victorian era novels. Orley Farm (I think) will be up next in a few months, which is why I read it now--I'm sure I'll get more out of it in the group as a re-read. She also leads a group read of Virago published books, too, and the next up there are the 3 Mrs Oliphant stories I mentioned. My id on LT is kac522.

This is fantastic! I am reading Cranford with Rainey from Rainey Day Reads and I am very tempted to read Mr Harrison's Confessions and My Lady Ludlow as well because they are all in the bindup I have and I am also tempted to read Moorland Cottage because I never finished the last 20-30 pages last time I read it (no idea why). I am also reading her short story Half a Lifetime Ago for Lucy's Victober challenge😀. Plus I'll be reading Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (listening to the Richard Armitage narration 😍), and War of the Worlds by HG Wells 😀. Wonderful list and great video as always Katie😀

I'm just about to reread Elliott's Silas Marner (165pp) about the friendship of a recluse with an orphan. A little longer, but easy to read, is Butler's The Way of All Flesh (340pp) which I just finished. A few years ago, I found a 7 book compendium of HG Wells for £1! His stories are exciting, entertaining and easily read, with various film adaptations.

I got so shocked I commented to quickly😆 there is a lot of books which I just had not come across. I’ve still not got to Carmilla and I am actually very curious about An ideal Husband just to see how Wilde mind is working with that one. The Rebecca Riot also sounds interesting and I’m pulled in by a dark nights work just by the title (and for Gaskell) you could literally spend the whole on Victober on Novella there is too much choice😱 fab video though!

Algernon. [Picking up empty plate in horror.] Good heavens! Lane! Why are there no cucumber sandwiches? I ordered them specially. Lane. [Gravely.] There were no cucumbers in the market this morning, sir. I went down twice. Algernon. No cucumbers! Lane. No, sir. Not even for ready money. Weirdly my one of my favourite funny moments in "The Importance of Being Earnest" between Algernon Moncrieff and Lane his manservant.
