The way you framed this, it sounds like you’re saying that you personally think it’s too realistic, and it sounds like you have a problem with it. I’m guessing the hole is for a recessed gate that allows either for a hot gate (saves on wasted plastic) or allows the gate to be twisted or pulled off of the part and whatever remains of the gate is always down in the hole. This ensures that there are no sharp or pointy bits and the parts can be separated from the sprue/tree simply by pulling or twisting the part instead of requiring manual trimming or a specialized machine for automated trimming.
@SupremeRTS

The hole in the handle is there to maintain roughly uniform wall thickness. Plastic shrinks as it cools so if the wall thickness is not even then you get differences in shrinkage because thicker sections take more time to cool. If there are differences in shrinkage, then the parts could warp

However my friend, she gave me a strict time limit of 5 minutes. So I began looking for a toy that would give me hours of fun. As I did so I happened across a particular area that had a wide selection of plastic block building toys you might know as “lego” one example stuck out to me. It was the model which included a lifelike revolver, the size of one’s pinky fingernail. Immediately I became enraged. My blood boiled. My heart raced and I knew then what needed to be done. It was as if the mere presence of this barely lifelike plastic centimeter toy unlocked a hidden deep rage inside of me. I knew then that a mission to find a school or a mall must be found, and my mission carried ou-“ Detective: … are you serious…. Glenn: what… Detective: … your saying that a small object identified by a magnifying glass inspired you to do these horrific acts against humanity. *Glenn loses it and starts laughing hysterically at nothing screaming that the Lego made him do it, he is sentenced to life in prison*

Lego wants to avoid getting related to wars or miltary stuff in general, so they had to avoid certain things such as realistic guns outside of specific themes such as Sci-fi (Star wars) and movie themes (Indiana Johnes)

There are 2 main reasons to add the hole from an injection molding standpoint. 1: plastic is a good thermal insulator, so adding the hole reduces thickness thus reducing cycle time ( fewer seconds to manufacture per part). 2: thick plastic sections tend to sink as they cool so they need longer packing time and pressure during molding.

I thought it was to let peaple add a bit of string. 1800-1900 officer and "adventurers" would at times put a string/rope through the bottom loop of the gun that would ether go around the arm or connect to the waist belt. thoes preventing them from losing there gun if they for what ever reason droped or lost the grip of the gun. (last I checked Japanese police offciers still does this. making it a lot harder for someone to take there gun and running away whit it or smacking it out of there hand over a ledger or something.
@LoneWolf2267
Жыл бұрын
@@Zack_Wester no... just no... lego doesn't care about whether or not you want a string on it. It's for speed of production, to save materials on extensive parts runs for cost reasons, and most importantly to protect the hand peices from excessive wear and tear by repetitive or long term use with the revolver, prolonged outward stress on the hand peices will eventually cause them to fracture. Similar issue causes the feet of the minifigs to develop cracks running up the middle of them from being stored long term on solid stud plates. Same thing with the torsos developing cracks down the sides from the repetive removal and replacement of the arms. Plastics can only take so much before they shear or crack from the mechanical stress of long term use.
