I tried to post a reply with the time stamps but my comment was blocked. You must have real strict settings for your youtube comment section that blocks comments with time stamps. So I had to type all this out again. You can unselect clips. When you right click in the timeline and get a menu it has a "selection" option. There you can unselect. It also tells you that you can press ctrl+d to unselect. If you don't want clips to be overwritten when they are laid on top of another then turn on the first ripple button. That will push clips to the right instead of overwriting them. You can lock the movements of the keyframes. Hold ctrl and you lock the keyframe movement vertically. Hold alt and you lock it horizontally. If you use shift you can select multiple clips without having to do them one by one with ctrl. You can also push and pull many clips around by turning on the two ripple buttons so that when you move a clip all the clips to the right of it will follow.

I don't have any restrictions on my comments, anything that is there is because of KZitem, but thanks for going back through all that effort.

It's really inconvenient but I see that the unselect works well. With the overwriting I mention that it's a default option, I should have mentioned the button. I'm not why I didn't try that actually, that isn't how I would bind it but I can see the logic. With this shift thing I'm not sure what you mean, it doesn't seem to do anything special.

Of course you can deselect. There is a keyboard shortcut and timeline menu item for it. Thanks for covering Shotcut!

I missed that feature, typically if you click off the selected items you would have them be deselected

i ran shotcut for i believe 6 months, for context i do a lot of live stream editing for my job, but also a lot of longer form video editing. Shotcut is great for the former, making small clips, simple short vlogs and stuff like that is great since you're not really doing something demanding. Longer more complex video editing i found was a pain for various reasons. Not only were some of the editing features very limited, but it also performed awfully on windows. Just felt like i should talk about my experiences to anyone curious

Was it before the introduction of the "proxy files"? I had the terrible performance issue before, but starting with the versions that started generating proxy files most of my editing performance related issues disappeared (was mostly stuttering, specially when going from one clip to another one with transitions).

I think this editor is worth reexamining. Markers were in the 2021-10-31 release, and it looks like the next release will have support for directly exporting markers as KZitem chapters.
