Thanks Jaakko! Your videos are unnaturally comprehensive: earlier on I only heard polar opinions on the question of shotgun length.

Great video. Wow! I am new shooter; have fired about 200 rounds from my Mossberg 590. I had to pause, rewind and re-watch several times just to get an idea of how you reload. I'm taking a new 2 day course next week. Now I'm psyched. Thank you for sharing your expertise and impressive handling of the shotgun.

If I'm not mistaken, you won't be able to reload Mossberg 590 this way. It does not have a sloping tray to direct shells into the magazine.

i found for shooting on the move - I was so used to a heavy 1187 that when I got a 1301 - I had to add a pound of weight just so I was used to how the gun handled when shooting on the move - I ended up adding about 1.7 lbs total, now I have taken out about 0.7 lbs and may try to take out the rest......and that was with a 21" barrel. I think the longer barrel has some pluses with spinner targets and velocity for a given load......so now I got an 24" M2 that I will be modding for a short person (me) to see if I like it. For me in the US - we usually have a 12 rnd tube because we can start with 9 in the gun and do a quad if the stage design allows it....so most of the time the tube is at least as long as the barrel - and in a 21" barrel - the tube sticks out like 4 inches - which is fine when you go to dump it in a barrel - it hits the tube not the choke.

One pound in a shotgun is a huge difference :) . My experience is the same as yours, it takes some time to get used to a shotgun that has different weight. The 3" longer barrel will make slightly tighter patterns with the same choke, that should help getting more pellets and power on the spinners :)

Hello Jaakko, thanks for sharing! Could you make a video on shotgun modifications like trigger mods, loading port, foreend etc.?

Thanks, very informative. I was looking at a 30" shotgun for ipsc standard. I think it´s a bit on the loooong side. Is it too much?

Well, some modified division shooters swing around even more nose-heavy shotguns :D . Maybe it is not the optimal, but surely you could get some good results with a 30" if you train yourself to be proficient. The barrel will be similar length than a 12 round magazine: www.innovatac.fi/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/barrelmagtubechart.jpg

Thanks, I went with a Benelli M2 Speed instead. Then I know the shotgun will be better than me :) @@jasuhep
