"Fidgety Feet" was written by Larry Shields and Nick LaRocca of the Original Dixieland Jazz Band which recorded it in 1918. ( they also had changed the spelling from "jass" to "jazz"). But they recorded it at a much faster tempo, along with often the sometimes comical phrasing of a novelty song that wasn't nearly as good as this great Shotgun Jazz Band version. Putting Ed and Ben Polcer together with Marla and Shotgun and you have a recipe for explosive traditional New Orleans jazz at its best ! Ed and Marla trading 8's , 4's and 2's is as good as it gets !

As you've noted, James, the band was cooking that night. Just noticed it's the same night as your red hot video of "Mahogany Hall Stomp.". Clue: I tend to notice what top Marla wearing. Not to mention Tomas' stripey shirt!

Great performance by one of the last great living hornsmen!! In the first half of the tune Marla is not sure she has got here. She actually blows a note or two. But as they get down she serves up with olde Ed Polcer one of the better hot jass sessions you will ever hear!!

Like Jim Cullum Ed Polcer just keeps going. Horn players are challenged with aging as the muscles allowing execution start to fade!! So these guys are NationalTreasures in Trad Jass land!! Long may it be so!!
