Great video, Nick-you really nailed it! When it comes to the HW97 muzzle weight, I think of it more as a moderator than an actual weight since it's quite light. Plus, it definitely dampens the shot blast; without the end cap, it's significantly louder!

I bought a new HW95 a few years ago, .22 sub 12, Hull Cartridge import, and it was running at 14.5 ft/lbs. So it's also worth checking the power. It settled down a bit but was still over the limit, and sounded like Zebedee, I had to cut some coils off the spring to get it legal but it was still a bit twangy so fitted one of your kits, sorted. Then sold it to a neighbour who probably put it in his shed....

I got myself the HW98 in .22 some yeas ago, what a great springer. As accurate as my 77 and 97. Non of my springers have a moderator. I don't want one on a springer. Great video buddy 👍 Looking forward for the Comets video. This brand need some serious attention because there is a way to big gap between the top brands like Weihrauch, AA, one or two Diana's and all the the other tupperware and China rubbish.

Good video mate, I have a 98 with your kit in it, superbly accurate, nothing wrong with breakers and a lot less faff. Recently bought a standard Fenix 400 something was loose inside moving inside the spring. Stripped it down and the plastic spring guide had shed the top hat bit, the reason was the spring ends were sharp as hell and had shredded it. I then deburred rifle and spring, degreased it, relubed with your stuff and assenbled it. It's a bit rough inside (aren't they all) so I recommend doing it. Took about 3 hours. The piston seal had grease on front side and was why it was dieseling. The rifle is accurate (using H+N 4.52 FTT but they are a tight fit so gonna try 4.50), very consistant and a pleasure to use. The first thing people notice is it's twang free and has a decent trigger. So I'm hoping you'll do a tuneing kit for it 😉

Love my 95k, but living in over here in sunny spain🇪🇸😎 I have to toe the line and also collect Cometa's, Norica's and Gamo's 🤦🏼♂️, all of course are on a different level build wise, I have the fenix 400 USC, the Fusion and a few others, worth noting, there popularity across Europe and USA is growing fast, they are definitly in need of a drop in kit, and on a final note, I have an ever so slightly reworked TBT kit in my Fusion🤫. When you acquire one, you will see there a doddle to work on, almost all models have the same Internals, but like weihrauch's out the box.......they twang.

If you drop on (in order of best) 99s/50, 57 for uk Then power over 12 flb 95, 98, 77,97, 80. I have all of the rifles mentioned and if all were able to perform as designed, the 95/98 would be my choice. 26mm rules 👌

I own a HW95 and have never stripped it down because I haven't had time. It's accurate has it is and the firing cycle doesn't bother me, although nowadays I need to have some sort of support to shoot at targets at a distance of 30 yards because I've got arthritis in my hands. The original grease must have burnt away because the last time I checked it it was doing 11.3 ft/lbs with accupells. What bothers me with Weihrauchs in general is their tendency to gouged the breach end of the barrel pivot due to the barrel joint shims not being wide enough to fill the gap in the action jaws. Mine seems OK. What I would like is a maglaza type piston and the rest which Venom arms used to sell, but they are not available anymore.

For UK the short stroking of the 95 is essential. The only part of the old original HW85 that was BSF was that scope ramp. I think they used the ramp because the cylinder was very thin walled (to save weight, it was designed as a 80 Lite) and to cut grooves in would have possibly lead to crimping the tube with a scope mount if clamped on hard. The old 85 had the screw-in back block while the 95/85/98 has those weird tiles that save HW but downgrade the construction to IKEA levels. Like you mention the old school 85 needs short stroking as well at for sub 12 fpe, far too much air. I don't like the balance on the 85 or 95 and I cannot see why people fawn over them. If you want a sub 12 fpe HW80 then get an HW35, if you want a medium weight then get an HW99S/HW50S and have it tuned. The 95 IS mediocre, and that's why it needs your piston extension, but that doesn't do anything about the handling. Not as bad as a HW57 but definitely one of Weihrauch's duds, which is why such an expensive rifle is abandoned in sheds in such alarming numbers.

@@ianwhite5799 That may be so and well done but it’s still the mooncalf love-child of a BSA Merlin and a HW99S. They ought to have followed through with the HW87, a slightly scaled down HW77.. but they saved two Euro and fitted it with a pop-up breech instead.

@@alistairmcclure1930 I never knew about the BSA Merlin so I Googled it and yes they certainly bear a resemblance at least in the loading method , but I still struggle to see why the HW57 is disliked I know there was a batch that had problems with the pop up breach but it wasn't on the scale of the HW99's galling issue which has also been seen on the HW30 and both rifles have a huge following and loved by most airgun enthusiasts. Probably the reason Weihrauch went with a pop up breach was to give the buying public a choice that was safer to use for new and younger shooters than the sliding breach.

You would be better stripping it now and deburr all the bearing surfaces then have a real critical look at the piston seal( the last 99s I stripped disappointed me as the seal was damaged during assembly and lots of edges are so sharp you will cut yourself.) then De grease the cylinder an re lube VERY SPARINGLEY. You need but the merest smear on the piston seal. Regards and best wishes

If you own the export or FAC HW97, which fires at around 20 ft.lbs, you'll definitely need a spring compressor for disassembling and reassembling the rifle. I believe those who say otherwise are speaking from a sub-12 ft.lbs perspective. Be very careful when taking apart a high-power one without a spring compressor; it will go flying!
