Great video Jeff. My wife got me a ThermoPro with four probes for Christmas. And the weather it’s been cold here where I live so the only advantage for me at this time is that I can see the grill temperature and the internal temperature of what l’m cooking from inside my house. But when I weather is good I rather go outside and hang around where I have my grill and I have a Tv there to watch and smell the delicious food that is being made. Thanks again Jeff for the info and have an awesome day.👍🏽

Sounds like your wife is a smart woman! I think a remote thermometer is the #1 accessory to make great BBQ. We have also been in the single digit temperatures, and I postponed a cook until we hit the 20's. My spring project is an enclosed 8'x12' "smoke shack" on my property. That will be my happy place to hang out and cook. Have a wonderful week!

Interesting take on the subject. I recently purchased a Timberline and the wi-fi is a welcome feature for me. Previously I've had a Pit Boss pellet smoker and a MasterBuilt electric smoker that just stopped working during an overnight brisket cook. Neither had wi-fi so that I could monitor from inside. Due to this, I've avoided pellet smokers for years and stuck with overnight tending of the fire on my offset. Now with the Traeger I can monitor both the smoker and up to four probes, turn on or off the supersmoke function, and monitor pellet inventory. Most important to me though is that I can wake up in the middle of the night or check it from a trip to the store and see that the smoker is still working. My only gripe is that the pellet monitoring will alert way too early due to the location of the sensor. Thanks for your insight and keep them vids coming.

Thanks for the comments, and congrats on the new Timberline! I agree that for overnight cooks, it is VERY important to monitor the grill. I am 100% in favor of using a WiFi thermometer with multiple probes to monitor the grill temp with 1 probe and 3 others for the meat temp. Also, I need to have alarms set so that any temp drop/spike in the grill.or meat wakes me up :-/ so I can tend to the issue. I do like the idea of making remote changes to the grill operation, which is very convenient... maybe one day I will invest in a big WiFi grill and fall in love with it! Gave a great week and I appreciate your insights!

There is one significant advantage to having a WiFi thermometer, and that’s simply that you can move it to any of your grills. I don’t disagree that being able to adjust your cook temperature remotely is nice. That said, my preference is to avoid anything that’s integrated to the device, because when it fails, you have to replace the controller.
