Brian Warfield of the Wolfe Tones, Alan Buckley from the Irish Rock and Roll Experience and callers from across Ireland join Claire McKenna on Lunchtime Live to discuss their conflicting opinions over Irish rebels songs and traditional music.
Warfield believes the attitude around rebel songs needs to change, starting with the national broadcaster RTÉ, saying the "systematic ban" on the band's music should be lifted.
The band has enjoyed buoyant popularity, having played Electric Picnic for two years in a row.
The singer says people who may be unhappy hearing rebel songs need to remember Ireland's past.
"If they're in Ireland, they should make their peace with that and acknowledge their culture and acknowledge the fact that we do have heroes just as much as any other country.
