Money is never the *only* reason, and often isn't even the main reason. Accepting a counter-offer is a high-risk/low reward career proposition.

I totally agree but a small percentage probably is just $$$$ but in my case NEVER. Money is never the only issue, the people that you work with ARE the issue so no amount of CO $$$ will help me. When I slam that resignation in, it's good bye bitches forever. hahha lol....

Some very good points! The only reason I think people should accept a CO is if all they wanted was $$$$$. Otherwise, I don't get why anyone would consider. With a few extra bucks, the other issues will still exist. Open your eyes and brain before accepting that CO. I never accepted 2 CO's I had before and I never regret any of them. Life goes on!!

Well... based on this my current employer has really got me. They offered me a new position at the same salary. I accepted it because my previous position wasn't satisfactory at all. Doing my research, I realized they're underpaying me by at least $5k! This is definitely not a situation for accepting a counter offer (there probably won't be one anyways!).

What if I have two offers from different companies And I'm for sure leaving my current one But between these two new offers, both r ready to give counter based on other...what should I do? As sharing offer letter of each company with other forming a cycle seems dangerous...with both knowing each offer details

My current position offered me a counter offer. They asked why was I leaving etc n not leave. I never express any indication of being unhappy. Since I’m not, other my pay. They asked how much was I leaving for to which I responded with the amount of funds. I want a 10% increase. I was excited at first to how much they wanted to keep me. However I’m the only person who holds my position so it makes sense it’s not it’s their best interest. Lastly they asked for. Copy of my offer letter idk I should provide and advise the 10% I asked for is to compensate for the benefits. I will be turning if I stay with my current position. Or if I should say to them. I don’t want a counter offer I want to negotiate a pay increase. Or may I should just go. I can always come back if needed. Other ppl have. Any advice would help thank you

It’s always a sticky situation if you accept a counter offer so you should really practice caution. Check out my previous videos and do some research!

At the end of the day, it's up to you. Typically I would generally advise against accepting a counter offer but only you know the company, culture and the team the best

Most employers have 2 in the bag. One and a standby if they're smart. You don't have to take the first job offered from fear of being blacklisted. You're responsibility is to yourself. But would it come off bad to a recruiter to take a counter offer. Yes. But guess what you don't have to do... tell them who you've decided to work for. They're not checking your W-2s just say that you found a different offer more fitting and apologize for wasting their time. AGAIN your responsibility is to yourself. Not the employer, not the prospective employer and not the recruiter.

Hello Thanks for the video, I need an advice here, I am having an offer from MNC tech. My current organisation is a small (1000 people) emerging Cloud Tech company. They are giving me a counter offer and I have been working here for the past 1 year and 3 months. The work environment is good and have a supportive boss. India's MNC tech - will have more challenge, work life balance will not be good Should I consider only brand value and move? or should I stay?

I’m in a dilemma about accepting a counter offer or leave. Current job counter offer is 95k-100k a year , promises change to help me which it did past week since I told them about my 2 weeks notice but didn’t offer help before I put in my 2 weeks . New job offer is 85k a year which I was making before . Pros and cons for both Pros current job More money Still the manager Familiar with surroundings Cons current job Understaff and will forever understaff Management and ownership are cheap only cares about numbers More hours and more responsibilities since I’m the manager More stress Pros about new job offer New places seem to treat their employees better and felt more genuinely cared for their employees Not understaff Less hours Less responsibilities since I’m not the manager anymore Better work life balance Cons about new offer Demotion from manager to assistant manager 10-15k less a year My position average 120k-150k a year which 95k-100k is still a low number in my opinion for a manager and my skills set
