2 out of 3 of your points is what I’m hype for actually. Big Michael bay explosions that aren’t scripted leveling, change the terrain drastically, and look visually stunning, coupled with lots of explosives to blow shit up to my liking sounds awesome. Open ended gameplay adds ton of replayability to maps too. This is looking to be spectacle - the game and I’m strapped in for it. As for monetisation, if they keep it to weapon skins and urban street clothes that’s pretty fine to me, since enemies show up with health bars anyway and no p2w mechanics will keep things fair. And the visual style of the game is my cuppa tea, the city looks like Mirror’s Edge a bit which makes sense considering the devs here are ex-Dice

Biggest thing I can say. The game was built from the ground up as a esport centered fps game, the visual clutter is a big part due to the graphical settings because as cluttered as the scenes can get, they look stunning for marketing. The game includes many options to disable these effects and while it makes the game less "pretty" of course it's MUCH easier to see. Also added colour vibrancey from software helps a ton, similar to how some use in valorant. Tl;Dr: turn the settings down, the game becomes much cleaner and easier to see players

I honestly really like this visual style of this, very action film feeling, and puts you at the center of action it looks like, sacrificing the e-sports playability for something that looks absolutely insane. The real deal breakers for me are going to be anticheat (as a Linux gamer, kernel-level anti-cheat is the bane of my existence) and implementation of pay-to-win means. Paid cosmetics are just that, cosmetic, a fancy 3D model or texture slapped over it, I can live with that, perhaps even purchase a few knowing it supports the devs who are making this free to play. If they put effort towards functionality on Linux, I'd be very happy to give it a go, even if I'm lacking in terms of skills with multiplayer shooters

to summarize this game, its for the people who are in-between wanting a casual and competitive game. the core elements are casual and for fun, but the games movement, abilities, and modes cater to a more competitive audience. I tend to like a mid-long time to kill - I feel that for me it's more frustrating to get deleted with 0 chance to do anything than it is for you to get first hit and the enemy wiping you nonetheless because of their skill with movement shooting etc on noob-tubes - having a ton of explosives makes sense in a game which features destructible environments. ofc idk how good they are against players, but the high movement and high TTK seem to me to mean that hitting a noob-tube will *hurt* but not *kill*, allowing the victim to get shoot you as you switch back to a gun and get into cover a few frames before you can shoot. Again, not sure, but here's hoping I do hope they simplify the visuals somewhat, and maybe they'll implement gamemodes with faster TTK etc etc

Been playtesting this game since alpha and it's an absolute blast. That's coming from someone who mainly plays games like Tarkov and Squad haha. So much chaos and destruction. A bit of a controversial opinion, but I think the F2P model with COSMETIC ONLY microtransactions is honestly a great one. Way more people have access to the game, more people are willing to try it since there is literally no risk, and those who care about Cosmetics can buy whatever they like. I personally almost never care about Cosmetics so to me this is a win win, I see no down side. I got to play the closed beta for the last 5 days of it. All I can say is 1. Performance is horrendous, i'm running a 5800x + 3080 and barely hitting 60fps. even on DX11 with everything on low. 2. The game has amazing concept, it's like KOTH, CP, Capture the flag and TDM all combined in one. I don't get bored playing the game and it's a very thought out design. 3. Too much stuff is still happening all at once, UI elements blocking the objective and shooting, character movement is wonky, nades going off everywhere, it's just hard to play the game sometimes. 4. The cosmetics in this game is awesome, they got that cyberpunk, ready player one style outfits down to a tee, and you can customize by picking pieces for your outfit. His concerns were my interests when I first saw it pop up on my steam curator list. Absolute Michael bay server-side level destruction with no limits to explosions, falling debris, and visual noise? Fuck yes finally the dream of a non-scam Crackdown 3 is here. It’s not battle royale either so an even bigger plus. The ttk is relatively high so no sweaty fucks are gonna be camping and instantly kill u , when you get shot you can react relatively fast and fight back while also enjoying the spectacle of the building you’re in falling apart to pieces. A gorgeous game engine with a sleek visual style akin to Mirror’s Edge, the player models having cool street style clothes and weapons and abilities that AREN’T locked behind shitty generic battlepass “heroes” too? If this truly isn’t p2w, and the game feels buttery smooth to play with its movement and shooting, this might be GoTY for me.

I am reminded of a convo I had with a much younger cousin of mine. We were talking about Valorant and CS, and he said he tried CS but missed all the colourful effects and how much happened especially sound-wise, that CS was too quiet of a game. I thought he meant because of the skills, but after seeing him playing in a single round it was clear, all the characters have catchphrases, the talk when reloading, pushing, planting, using skills, when you kill there is a happy chime, everything is noisy. I guess I am officially a boomer, I would like a lot of movement and long ttk - but the scenes you showed were absolutely unintelligible to me. Everything shines and explodes, I couldn't even see what the player was shooting at.

Really... you forgot about TF2? They also have a lot of personality. In fact I will say the lore/game-with-character comes from TF2.

I'm kinda scared they're gonna massively tone down the destruction and versatility in the level design for the sake of "balancing" because Nexon wants an eSports scene or something

i think a game like this is right up my alley. unrestricted mobility, physics based gameplay, and a huge emphasis on style and spectacle baby. it looks like operation locker and mirrors edge had a baby coming out the womb drinking white monster.

The devs are mainly ex-Dice, u can see the mirror’s edge aesthetic in the city map and the battlefield DNA in its destruction 😈
