I used to finish the blanket of granny squares then block the whole thing. Trust me it's so much easier to block each square then it's easier to match your stitches to put the blanket together. Thank you for your videos. 😊

I'm working on Granny squares & have several complete. Planning on sewing them together for a nice blanket. I'm also using a closed granny square. So I wanted to learn about blocking. My squares are 9 inches, which I see are a little large, but I'm going to go for it. Your video is very informative. Thanks

I didn’t know if you should block granny squares and just decided I would. It makes a huge difference in the project if you take the time and just do it. The next time I do, I’ll be stacking them like you did because it does take some time. I enjoyed your 2 min tip and look forward to more.

I hope you answer this question, what weight and kind of yarn do you recommend for the cream colored Grannie squares? I made the black one YEARS ago, probably 50+ years ago and I really don’t remember what I used. I made the beginner navy and cream afghan over the winter and it came out beautifully, I like the yarn and hook you recommended. Hopefully you have an idea for me. Thanks in advance…

There are so many great choices! If I were making a blanket and wanted to use acrylic yarn, I'd probably go with Lion Brand's Pound of Love or Red Heart's With Love, but if I wanted to spend a little extra money to make a wool/blend, I'd definitely go with Patons classic wool worsted. These are some of my personal favorite yarns for blankets!

Glad you liked it! I'd say definitely, yes! I always block acrylic, and have great success with it. Even after washing an acrylic blanket I made it still looks great. Same with cotton....I work with it less frequently, but what projects I have blocked with it seemed to be worthwhile!

I crocheted an endless granny square blanket using your method of changing colors. Nothing to weave in since I "weaved in" at the start of a new color. The squares are curled but I don't have a blocker. What should I do to square off the corners?

If we use 100% acrylic would this work? I normally run my project through the washer and dryer and that seems to do the job. I hope lol. I’ve always wanted to use blocking boards though. I am totally addicted to granny squares lol.

I've blocked acrylic granny square blankets with great success! I usually block before joining, and then wash it as a complete blanket. The shape has always held really well for me! A lot of people say that blocked acrylic squares won't hold the blocked shape quite like a wool, but it's still a noticeable enough difference for me :)

Hello! I'm a begginer crocheting and I've been crocheting granny squares lastly, but I don't know why the Round 1, the one that is a kind of cross, looks asimetric and ugly. The pattern that I've learnt is chain 6, slip stich in 1st chain, chain 3, double crochet, double crochet ( chain 3, 2 double crochets) x 3. Does anyone know why? tysm :)
