I started my journey in March, lost 40 lbs and now I’m 150lbs. I was overweight before, I’ve never ever been or even close to obese. But now I’m skinnyfat. Should I just bulk now? My biggest concern is the lack of muscle. I don’t really care about having some fat. My waist is 33-34 inches which is “good” for my height, but it doesn’t look good because of the low muscle mass. Also, How long should the bulk last?

im 17 years old, i am around 19-21% bf. i am skinny fat. Im tired of seeing the fat around my arms and face as well as my chest. i want to cut and lose fat but everyone says i shouldnt. what should i do if my goal is to lose fat overall? can i still gain muscle during a cut?

I would say to lean bulk man, you are young with a lot of mass gaining years ahead of you. Go into a slight calorie surplus and you will even loose some fat if you are doing everything right

You want to gradually increase your caloric intake into a surplus and go into a lean bulk!

to keep it simple.. if you look skinny with a shirt on and then chubby with it off then you are skinny fat

I have no clue what to do everyone is saying recomp and to eat 500 less calories then your maintenance calories. Then people say lean bulk and I’m stuck between both

@@ashtonarmijo Eating in a caloric surplus but not a really big one, just between 100 and 400 calories, (although others recommend 200-300, 300-500, 100-300 etc. but nothing over 500) eating enough protein (like 0.8-1gram per pound of bodyweight) and doing resistance training. Combine those factors and you will build muscle at a reasonable rate without gaining too much fat in the process, hence the name "lean"bulk. If you're gaining too much fat, eat fewer calories, if you aren't gaining any weight, eat a bit more.

I would try to stay away from protein supplements and focus on eating Whole Foods at such an early age. However if you're already eating good balanced portions then yes, use the protein as a SUPPLEMENT. Don't use it as an excuse to eat bad and just throw a protein shake on top of that
