Yes the deauville is a great workhorse/commuter bike. I've got a 2004 650 model. You're right you just turn it on and go! It's simple and uncomplicated. I had a NC750x for about 4 years and it was ok but rather bland with the low revving engine. The deauville engine is much more interesting! Weather protection is brilliant. Great review thanks Rob.

Just downsizing from an immaculate Pan 1300 just too heavy, moving around . Once it's moving fine. It is just a mini Pan and easy to handle in all circumstances The one I am getting in 6 days has done 10K and like brand new Not cheap at 4 k but a lot of rubbish around. I only buy mint and look after things. As I am retired and will be always solo it's perfect. I also have a mint Versys 650 It's how you look after them controls the condition Brilliant design will last me until I finish riding I could afford any bike out there but this suits me.

Hey Rob. Thanks for a fantastic video on the Dullville! I have a BMW 800GT which on short journies is fantastic. After buying it we only did short to medium journies and it was great. Recently we’ve just done trip to the Normandy Beeches and that’s when I discovered the problem. After a day in the saddle I was in agony. The geometry just wasn’t right, to the extent that I had to have a day off from riding to ease the pain. So! Obviously that has 2to go because we do like our long holibobs. So, what next? Well I’m King Charles stand in, he’s 75 I’m only 74 (What 😵💫) so it has to be comfy, low enough to get my feet on the ground without the zimmer)! I had considered the Dullville and since investigating it I was drawn towards it. Rob, you should be paid commission from Honda for your fantastic sales pitch for the Deaville. Loved your vid at around 24.11 when you spoke about the height. I’m 5’8” too so that is perfect. When you said it’s average at everything except price that was the clincher. Cheers Rob, now a follower.

Thank you so much for your kind comments. I would love to do more vloggs on bikes, difficult to get a real feeling for a bike unless owned by you and used. Can't believe I'm 50 years old next year WTF. I do feel i have used my life and continue to. Please watch my work history video. Would value your opinion. About honda commission please feel free to share my vids to them.

Yes you should if... You like to ride on a confortable bike, if you want a bike with a sincere but power motor, if you want to travel with your things, if you want a safe bike, if you want to give confort to your partner on the back seat, if you want a bike with power. Yes you should. I had the 650 for a few years and now I have the 700 (for 10 years now, and more than 81.000km) with 0 mechanical problems. Only have problem with the panniers that have a sh#@#y lock system. But yeah it's a great bike that is for people who don't want speed but want confort and enjoy the ride!

I'll never understand why H put cam belts on the Pan 1, instead of chain. Gen 2 is chain... but some of them weave. Better off with the Deau if you want something with a Honda badge on it, in this genre I think

What you mention about the height is what sold me on this bike. Similar height to you and when I first sat on it, I was very happy to find i could be flat footed while at a standstill. Working on restoring this as it sat for 2 years prior.

Brought back memories of my old stomping grounds, I've just picked up an 01 Dullville for the princely sum of £250... seller, like me is a Harley boy and was well aware the Hondas beige credentials. Suits me down to the ground, don't do the "born to ride" crap.... two wheels and an engine is all I look for. I just need some ironic stickers for it and high viz!

I think if I was riding in town mostly then I'd have a Suzuki Burgman 400, powerful enough to take for tours out in the country and not have to bother constantly changing gears in town. + it's got better weather protection. The Honda DCT bikes are also good, the Rebel 1100 DCT or the NC750X DCT But think I might look at the Deauvelle as my first bike, this or a Rebel 250 or Marauder 250.

I have a 2006 NT700 and they bolt on. The 2008 versions and onward had the slide adjustment. Read it on a Deauville FB site somewhere Had a similar thing with a Midget I owned, couldn’t find how to turn the heater fan on. Wasn’t till the bloke I sold it to said “let’s try the heater motor, these can be a problem” he turned the heater control and the fan burst into life. Two years I froze to death - what a muppet 😂😂

I have an 07, the earlier ones have 2 bolts either side under the rubber strip. You have to peel the strip off, unbolt the brackets, saw them over and I think turn then upside down - too much for me, drilled new holes.
