You gave very sound advice. I agree whole heartily! When I retired about 5 years ago I bought a mid priced scroll saw of pretty good quality. Then I added an bench top eight inch drill press. By the 4th year I had also added three more bench top power tools...a belt sander with a sanding disc, an oscillating spindle sander, and a Worx bladerunner. I use the bladerunner to cut the wood to size before scrolling. It uses a jig saw blade with a T-Top end. It sets in the machine upside down. You can rip, crosscut, and miter with it. I don't have space for a table saw. I make small wood projects and whirligigs. I had to watch twice lol! First to listen, the second time to see what you were making. Liked the projects too! Take care!

Hi Michael, always great to hear from you and to learn more about your own set up. It is very similar to the set up that we have here at our workshop. It gives us alot of flexibility when it comes to making different things in wood. Hope all is well with you. Thanks again for supporting our KZitem channel. All the very best from us all. 👍👍

It had never occurred to me how beneficial a scroll saw could be to what I do. The scroll absolutely changed how I approach my wood carvings. I’ll go ahead and add that it was you who convinced me of that, and for that I am very thankful. Thank you Dai!

Thank you Jerry, we hope all is well with you and we very much appreciated your continued support for our KZitem channel. For ourselves the scroll saw is the main reason we are able to survive as a family workshop today. Without it we would be struggling to produce at a competitive price. Great advice, wish I would have known about your YT channel earlier. I just ordered a scroll saw from Amazon last night. Having started my own business in a one bedroom apartment, I am limited on space. But I would like to offer a few things that would be good options if you are limited to money for tools. Orbital sander, and corded/cordless belt sander, and a bench top planer. I got my cordless belt sander from a promotion that my local hardware big box store, spend x amount of money and get one of x tools for free.

Hi Pascal, great to hear from you and delighted to hear that the video was useful. I work with a Hegner Multicut 2s myself and would recommend it to anyone getting into scroll sawing. My machine is not variable but single speed and is absolutely fine for what I do. If the Hegner scroll saws a a bit expensive for you, it might be worth having a look on Ebay for second hand Hegners. They are robust machines and you can get any spares required from Hegner. You can often find good quality Hegner scroll saws for sale here in the UK on eBay for anything between £250-500. Blades are really important too and my blade of choice for working in seasoned hard wood is the Niqua speed number 9 reverse tooth blade. Thank you again for getting in touch and supporting our KZitem channel. All the very best from us all. 👍👍

You're very welcome Pascal. Hegner scroll saws are really well made and spares can be bought from Hegner so second hand is always an option. Thanks again for supporting our KZitem channel, hope you have a great Christmas. All the very best from us all. 👍👍

I've only seen a few Hegner scroll saws, the pricetag should give them Rolls Royce badges (and keys). I've seen some starter £120 units, several in the £200+ range. They don't all list air blower, light etc. All show 45° tilt table and 2 speed or variable speed. Anything a newbie should look for? Or be aware of? Anything in Budget Range you would consider a good starting point? Or even Proxxon? (I have their table & band saws) What about blades? Pun/painless? Spiral cut or assumed straight cut? My mainstay tool is a 16x12in CNC, I can do most things on it, except very fine cuts. 1mm cutters break very easily, day to day 2mm is smallest I use. So can't do full depth fine cuts. But 20° vbit will show fine 2d or .5D detail, at shallow depth.

The Hegner multicut 2s has served us very well over the past 20+ years and our go to blade is the Niqua speed number nine reverse tooth blade. You can often find second hand Hegner scroll saws on Ebay for very reasonable prices. It does everything we need to get projects ready for wood carving. Thanks again for supporting our KZitem channel. All the very best from us all. 👍

Amazing video but I ended up putting the video in 1.25 speed because of the slow taking. Otherwise perfect
