No one is forcing people to buy these cards. It's up to the consumer to know the value. Don't like the price? Just don't buy it and let gamestop sit on their inventory forever. If anything, at least someone was able to offload their slabs.

True no is forcing them and I made that very same point regarding being a vigilant and educated consumer. Still is pretty egregious pricing model so I won’t let GameStop off the hook on that.

@PokeBoyzProd people who buy slabs aren't ignorant buyers. This is a bad point also. They're just gonna get stuck with a bunch of slabs. They probably don't even have stock so the just mark them up 100% if they need to buy to fill a sale
@KushDragon420

Dont sell them your slabs. 1. Any card shop will offer more 2. For a slab valued at 500 dollars they will offer you 150-200 max. At most. People have tested this already 3. To get the 500 dollar max youd have to sell them a card worth 1000s if not 10s of 1000s. Talking 1999 promo mew prize card psa 10 signed by Satoshi tajiri kind of rare card.

False. I know specifically a guy who sold them those Jolteon promos in psa 10. Going for maybe $140-160 market. And GameStop was paying $450 cash per card. I’ve even talked to a manager and they have seen there’s specific cards for whatever reason in their system that they are paying double or triple actual market. It all is down to whatever algorithm they use.

Should You Buy Graded Pokemon Cards From Game Stop? Proooobably NOT! Should You Sell Graded Pokemon Cards on Game Stop? Yes yes YESS!!!! But just little reminder. There in world exist things like dropshipping for example. U literally buying things for more money, when u just can buy the same thing from source for less. But still ppl buying it. The same pokemon Boosters. We have at Slovakia many choices to pick boosters from different eshops and still ppl are chosing that ones, which will sell u that booster for even 30% more money!!! And ppl buying it and they are happy, because when they spend many money on that eshop, they will get discount for example 1,2 and 5% on everything. Wow.... so then it is not 30% more... but only 25% more, but ppl still think it is good price, because it is huge 5% discount :D :D

For a 500 dollar slab. That same slab would be 1k plus on their website judgeing from this video. Which is very gamestop. Thats not shocking at all really.

As much as I’m not a fan of GameStop for buying/selling, I feel like the majority of people who purchase slabs are significantly invested in the hobby. And those people have access to all of these free resources for looking up prices. If someone sees something they like, and likes the price, they will buy it. If they don’t like the price, then the product will sit. Eventually, GameStop will have to lower prices or face compounding losses. On a side note, my theory about why the prices are so high in the first place, is that corporate does not have proper training in place to show their employees how to price out these items (again not the employees fault, even people involved in the hobby take time to learn how to properly evaluate prices). Therefore they price the product based on what they paid for, not what it should it have been valued it in the first place. Again, I agree that almost all of their pricing is very off, but the law of supply and demand will take care of it anyway. Good on you for spreading the word, but I also don’t really feel like the Gamestop slab situation is particularly a big problem for us consumers. If they give you a good offer for your slabs, sell it to them, if not walk away 👍🏻

The problem is that games in the US and EU have become increasingly digital and they don't get as much physical sales anymore, so they have to diversify. This is especially true of the Xbox, which has seen a lot more of the digital console sales compared to the Playstation. If they want to continue, they need to expand beyond just games before the digital consoles take over.

But if you crack it from the slab since it’s a psa 9 it’s worth more as nm raw at like $180. So there’s some deals. Just lots of overpriced because whatever they use to price is so messed up.
