Hello from Colorado! I just purchased a vintage (I believe) bottle of Dolce Vita because of your reviews. Hope it hasn’t gone off, no way to know until I get it. I found it on eBay for $70USD. So we’ll see. I’ve had some luck in purchasing vintage bottles, Champs Elysees, L’Interdit 2002-03 version, and Amarige. I bought a 15mL of L’Interdit 1978, but it had gone off completely. Wish me luck on DV! Love your videos!! ❤

Hi Luke. I like vintage perfumes like you. I have been watching a few videos from you and I just Subscribed to your channel. I own Ysatis and have a 1.7 oz. Vintage bottle. I have about 400 perfume bottles and have been collecting for four years since COVED started in 2020. I enjoy using them and learning about them. hm... i buy vintage bottles also because they can be cheaper than the new versions if you know how to look. it also depends where you live, i am certain. europe is just more expensive than the US and/because it is less saturated with older products. the new trade regulations, concerning shipping to and fro btw europe and the US, also make the market difference greater. true, some beloved older fragrances are so rare these days that the prices are crazy overinflated. i hope you don't mind if i point out that chopard's Cašmir is just a different spelling of Kashmir, and should be pronounced as such, as the diacritic on the 's' indicates. i also think it's fine getting the newer version of it. it is still beautiful if you like that scent profile. :-)
@lukeparfums

Hi there, I agree that the US market is more saturated with vintage products because certain perfumes may not be as popular here, but in my experience vintage bottle are usually not cheaper unless you’re really lucky and know where to look. But you never find what you’re looking for. I pronounced Cašmir the French way because Chopard is a Swiss company. Thanks for watching!🙂
@ninosays
Ай бұрын
@@lukeparfumsI can speak french and I normally pronounce french words as they should be pronounced (including dior's poison). Casmir is not a french word or spelling while it obviously refers to Kashmir, or shall i say Cachemire. again, the diacritic on the 'S' is clearly marked for a different pronunciation. my french friends in pondichery, india, 20 yrs ago pronounced it Cachemire. anyhow, this frag by Chopard is mofo legendary!!!

Oh yes, definitely! I do own vintage perfumes. Classic perfumery is my favourite. But I have to say if I can get a classic in an acceptable modern version I usually prefer that one. All perfumes change with time, even if they have been stored properly. Their performance often weakens they don't last as long as a newer version and the top notes often loose their sparkling qualities. I still am very happy about some discontinued gems I own and which are in pretty good shape. Dior Dior, My Sin and Après l'Ondée extrait being the biggest treasures, and all 3 are in very good shape considering their age. I am also longing for the original version of Byzance which was the first perfume I ever wore, but prices have skyrocketed so much that I will probably not find one which I will want to buy.

When something is discontinued, there’s no other option but to get a vintage bottle. I also prefer acceptable modern versions if I can find them. I wish I bought it 5 years ago when they were still normal. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on vintage formulations.

I purchased 2 old school perfumes on the grey market, recommended by influencer, not original vintage, I think the current reincarnations are heavily watered down and don't smell anything like the originals, I will not purchase again no smell whatsoever, I've been told that perfumes lose their performance after about 5 years, so I wouldn't risk a vintage.
