It's like you're reading my mind. I have been thinking about doing cams. Thanks for sharing your experience....I'll be saving my nickels and dimes and doing a set of custom cams and go e85 at the same time.

No for me. But that’s just because motor wise I want to keep it more stock. I’ll do full exhaust and headers but that’s about it! Your car does sound great tho.

Lol Guess I’m not doing cams. always have had concerns about opening engine when modifying my terminator. Lots of trust involved but does it hurt it’s value is always a big deal breaker. Great video. Info is king. Cheers

I'm the same way with my 2v, was gonna buy a 5.0 stroker kit for it but it's my daily driver so i can't be without it for a month or two till it's done, gonna put heads n cams instead 1st then in the future build it more, but the n/a route is always more expensive, but less with a 2v vs a 4v so yeah.. i say cam it tho, it's extra power, even a stage 1..

Got Crower stage 3 blower cams...tuned perfectly....the cams...springs and titanium retainers Install..ARP head stud kit..and everything else came to $6300.00...not cheap... When I start it cold...it is soooo choppy..grumpy and then eventually it settles into its normal idle. Drive ability is great...and there were parameters for the a/c...great vid...😀

I totally agree on going with a blower upgrade over cams. A lot of people asked me why I didn’t put cams in my car when I had the engine out and cost was one factor but power gains from just the cams for the money aren’t worth it to me. The sound is cool yes but I’d rather spend $3500 on a used blower and pick up a lot of power instead.

I've got Comp "Stage 2" supercharged cams and I think they're awesome. You definitely lose quite a bit low end torque, but drives just fine and the mid to top end power is a rush. You're right about hidden costs; at a minimum you'll need springs and there's a lot of time to degree them in. Definitely something to be done with the motor out of the car. Tuning was also a pain, but I was doing it myself. I also have ported heads which are needed in my opinion to really take advantage of the cams. There's also little things like PTV clearance and finger follower geometry to pay attention to. Yeah, one simply doesn't just throw in some cams and go, things really add up quick.

Yours sound great. I also have Bassani exhaust and will probably change mufflers just to get some more noise out of the cams. I’ve got 3 of my 4 sitting on the shelf, so excited to get them in.

Did comp cams custom grinds years ago. Higher than a stage 3. I picked my numbers, duration, LSA, lift, etc. and yeah my mustang bump sticks bump. It’s a mustang. Not a Prius. Drive it like Steve Mcqueen. If you want driveability, I’m sure Toyota takes trade ins

Been following some of your content, love what you've done with your Cobra. I've been on the fence over cams as well, the way some of those aggressive cams sound is like music, but truthfully I would really hate to lose my drivability. Currently running a KB 2.6H, LT exh. on E85. It makes good power debating on upgrading to the 2.9 crusher instead of the cams?

Great video Kevin! I talked to Todd a few days ago about cams. It's expensive for me I'm in New Brunswick Canada. Those would be the ones I wanted. Kevin Dunn remote tuned my car I could not be happier he is awesome! Car runs and idles like stock. I have a built motor 2.3 Whipple, Return style fuel system. Maybe bigger blower in the future. Makes me nervous to maybe lose some drivability. I love your car watch them all great videos!

Good job on the video! I'm like you, I understand a lot about cams and what they do etc., but putting them in myself? No way! Understanding how they work and installing them are way different things. I'll change the wheels and plugs and oil, etc. But I leave internal engine stuff to my mechanic!

I think they sound better with a good chop but somewhat mild (kinda like yours) when theyre chopping so much it sounds like its having trouble idling it isnt for me. The l&m nsr cams for gt500s are perfect for what i want i love how they sound and i hear they drive nice and make good power. That is the direction im gonna go with my 07 gt500. I want good power but driveability matters to me im not willing to sacrifice it for every last hp. I am gonna do cams and longtubes at the same time i build the motor. Im going to get a loan when the car is paid off and do it at once. It would make the install make sense and prob save me money in the long haul. The cams shouldnt add that much to the labor if youre already having your engine built by the person. Makes it alot easier for them to install it...same with long tubes. Makes the headache of both installs not as bad plus they really compliment each other. Im gonna swap the blower on the stock motor first then 3 or 4 years down the road is when i am gonna have the engine built with higher compression, cams and longtubes. That makes the most sense as far as the build im planning. I wouldnt do cams before a blower swap. After the blower swap the cams will help you alot more than before the blower swap also that is another thing to consider. I wouldnt just do cams alone and pay all that labor just for that especially on the stock blower.

Dude your setup is optimal for a cam upgrade...meaning its prob gonna gain as much as anyone will going cams. You have a setup that youre pushing pretty good in a setup like that the cams really hold you back at high rpm. For example bj the guy from venomous tuning that tunes mostly gt500s i think he had the car "christine" that was a vmp test car for a long time. It was on e85 gen2r 2.4 upper 15% lower mac effort setup it was setup kinda like your car and on e85...they literally picked up 80 rwhp with just the cams i wouldnt be surprised if you pick up close to that. Different cars but very similar in layout and the results would be similar imo.
