I got back today from multiple cities in Japan, went to the top of TV Towers, stayed in high rise hotels etc. I did see signs in each area I stayed that identified evacuation sites and made note of where to go. When your time is up, it's up - don't live in fear.

There is no point in living in fear, I agree, but also there is no point in living when you're going straight into the danger zones. If you live there permanently of course you don't have a choice in most cases, but if you're planning to go there in dangerous periods you have a choice, why risk? Also, there is a high probabilty of Japan being hit by on of the biggest earthquakes and tsunamis of the last 120 years, maybe even of all theirs history, that may and probalby will happen. So there is a choice to make when planning your trip there in this dangerous periods of time.

I saw the warning, but luckily watched a video that described it as a hightened risk, not a certainty. Japan is already an earthquake-prone country, and like you and others said, look at how people around you react when things happen. I come from a place in Canada where there was never any earthquakes till a couple of years ago when there was a moderate sized one that was about 400 miles from my home. I never felt anything, but people about a 100 miles closer then me did. I've been in a few small earthquakes while in Japan, but nothing major. Also got a couple of warnings on my cell that didn't amount to much, and weren't really close to me. There is risk everywhere in the world. Being aware and watching how the locals react, will probably keep you as safe as you can be. So I won't be cancelling my next trip to Japan, but it could change when and where I go to certain parts of the country. I'm not going to temp fate, because I know I'm not invincible, unfortunately.

We have a lot of these items in NZ, but no-one has really put them all in a single store. My house has emergency solar powered radios, a generator, dried and tinned food, water purification, lamps/torches and powdered/ UHT milk. A tin of butane for a stove lasts about 2 days so spares are really important. During a disaster last year, people used their gas or charcoal barbecues. That's a lot of fuel to boil water for tea! When you lose electricity, you live by the sunlight, so make sure you have a lamp to read or play cards by!

Great video with pertinent advice - especially about the useful signage all around Japan. And no, it's not clickbait once people realise that it's not a matter of 'if' another big earthquake ever occurs but it is a matter of 'when' because it will happen according to geological scientists. I also think it's important for people to have an agreed landmark meeting spot should they ever be separated. It's important to note that cell phone & wireless networks went down during the during the 2011 Great East Japan earthquake and the recent Noto earthquake and there were massive communication problems for several days.

Adventures come with risks. Maybe the plane you're on will crash, or you'll suddenly be involved in a terrorist attack or accident. The bottom line is that no one knows when an earthquake will occur, so it's best to stock up on food and water when you travel, check the evacuation sites for each area, and enjoy your trip to the fullest. However, what is being talked about in Japan right now is that it's best not to be on the coast of Japan on July 5, 2025.

Ryo Tatsuki, a famous Japanese prophet who has correctly predicted the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, and the deaths of Princess Diana and Freddie Mercury, has predicted that a massive tsunami🌊 will hit Japan on July 5, 2025, causing a significant number of deaths. Many well-known psychics have also said that this day will be the most dangerous day for Japan. Some people in Japan have even changed their place of residence. It's up to you whether you believe this prophecy or not.

Chilean here, we are on the other side of the "belt of fire" and we have the record of the most powerful earthquake recorded in modern history, so yeah , living in seismic countries always have that "vibe" that at anytime "the big one" will come (we are waiting for "the big one" in the central region since the last 10 years and we know it will happen, when? well that's another question). The main difference between Chile and Japan regarding this matter, is that in Japan there is a so called "seismic culture" so yeah, there are protocols, and the "know how" to handle this things. I have my 3rd trip booked for february of 25' and to be honest, beside the language barrier which im trying to improve, i think that dealing with an earthquake over there it's safer than dealing with one in my home country (in less than 48hrs we would have looting, rioting, etc, etc, etc)

Megaquack!😅 As usual international press exaggerates... every relatively "quiet" year the chance of a "big one" sligthly increases... the "megaquake" issue was given as a precaution, given the "position" and the relative intensity of the latest events: as always, after a somewhat "bigger" tremor, there is a chance of aftershocks, and they feared that such events could verify in the "Nankai Trough" thus triggering a bigger one.

My husband and my daughter went to Japan during her spring break in April, there was an earthquake and alert was on but luckily the earthquake wasn’t severe. During the same time frame, we had an earthquake in New York as well, the epicenter was in Trenton NJ or somewhere around there but the earthquake spread to NYC and Long Island (where we live), the house moved but I remained calm because it was like 4.5.
