If you also believe that having more than one Parrotlet is beneficial, because they keep each other company and start to form a larger flock with you included, then the next question becomes should you have two or three?
In my experience, I have found the two is a great number. people used to propagate a myth that having two parrots meant that they wouldn't breed with you. I do find that having more than one parent means that the parrot is naturally not dependent on you alone. similar to being in a flock, when there are multiple creatures to bond with, meaning humans and other parrots, then parrots are less likely to be needy. this is because their need to be social is fulfilled, they have more than one clock member around them.
I find that two parrots, including parrotlets, is a great number. When you have three or more, I find that it is harder to bond with them. also, sometimes having three parrots in a cage means that one is left out.
