I’m currently a dumptruck driver earning $18,50 hourly ($50k yearly, give or take). I’ve driven a tandem dumptruck (class b) for 3 years, and have been in a tractor-trailer for 6 months, all with a 10-speed transmission. If I thought I could get hired on and survive at Sysco (big ‘if’) earning double that, I’d give it a shot. With dump trucking, we sometimes experience rainy days, so the hours vary drastically. We almost always get OT, but occasionally will experience work-weeks with less than 40.hours. And while I live in a fairly low cost-of-living area (south Ga) where $18.50 hourly will go a bit farther than in many other locations, it still isn’t great. Sysco would probably hire me, but if I washed out due to the workload as a lot of drivers do, I might be screwed. Like you said, you’d want to make sure you got a job BEFORE leaving your current job, but you don’t want to be unemployed looking for a job.

You’re likely already aware from having watched other videos on this channel, but just in case, I’ll say that Sysco is a very physically demanding job. You literally spend just as much if not more time unloading the truck than you do driving. It pays very well and you can make a great living there IF your body can handle it. Best of luck. (I’ve never actually worked at Sysco but I’ve seen plenty of videos from drivers including ImAnthonytv).

@@GeneralSirDouglasMcA I’m 23 years old, I’m pretty confident that I can handle this type of job. I got tired of being out on the road, all of the time. You don’t have a life at all OTR period. You can’t tell me the life style is any better, sitting on your ass rather then being physical.

I tried maverick and sleeping on a dirty ass truck was not my vibe at all. Happy i came back home and found this. I literally had to do it old school i went to multiple places in person and gave them my resume and talked a little with them and it worked! Don’t leave unless you are getting more of what you want either CPM, home time , local, speed, benefits etc… Work smart not hard. The flexibility to get hired on Monday and leave by Wednesday is what drivers can do, however depends on your track record and who is going to look at your job history really heavy. Recruiters don’t know and just want to get you in. If you have strikes against you and you’re at a company now stay until those strikes fall off your record then move around.

I make 2500 a week and it makes it worth the drive but I want to be home. We don’t have a grocery division in Arkansas so I would have to switch companies. I have a job offer for Ben E. Keith, my debate is that I get my third week of vacation and 40 hours of sick time in January with McLanes. My question is that do you think it would be worth waiting to cash my time out and hope that Ben E. Keith will be still hiring in January or do you think the jobs are going to continue to get harder to find and I should go ahead and make the move right now when I have the chance?

If a viewer shares their personal experience in the comments from being turned down from jobs despite having had years of experience or otherwise how’s their experience not a fact? I’m simply reiterating other people’s experiences based on what I see. Just read the comments for yourself. The facts are what I state in the video, which is there are many people having a difficult time finding CDL job’s in this market for various reasons despite their experience level. The amount of CDL job postings on indeed is irrelevant if you’re the person not getting the job..Just saying

I'm with JoyRide Logistics, making $1,635 gross salary company driver weekly pay. I started on 1/22/2024 with JoyRide dry van company over the road truck driver. Take in bank $1,303.97 weekly net pay. Plus, I get $575 monthly safe driving bonus consistently. Drive a dedicated route with dry van easy safe lane from Goodyear AZ to Lamirada, CA. Then, I pick up an Amazon load back to Phoenix AZ. Loads are lightweight with only a dirt truck parking lot in Phoenix Arizona. They are empty cans of Monster energy drinks or Sprite. Plus, I drive the lower west coast from Goodyear Arizona to Lamirada, California, where driving all year is safe away from the bad weather potential to avoid accidents and traffic jams! Truck I'm driving is a Freightliner Cascadia white color 2022 with 157,767 low miles with medium-sized Whirlpool refrigerator, APU, and TV mount, governed at 74 mph automatic transmission. I'm saving $1k a week to buy my own truck. I'm thinking of working at JoyRide for the next 2 years until I get my own truck.

People have been applying for a year? Their not telling the whole truth I feel. There is something on their record that is holding them back. Even as a new driver, I had 3 jobs to choose from on the same day. You know drivers don’t tell the truth lol. Great advise as always. I would be foolish to leave my position now. Been here for a little over s year. My insurance is free for the best plan. I have my Friday’s and Saturday’s off, like I asked for. I have leeway because they know how I work. I have the opportunity to expand my experience to learn to run propane, jet fuel, and ammonia. Opportunity out the ying-yang. Took a couple jobs to find this, but I’m here and happy. Don’t leave a good situation for a “greener grass” situation that pays a couple bucks extra. There might be something you don’t like that makes you regret leaving your previous job. All in all, KEEP YALL’S LICENSE CLEAN 🧼 I mean squeaky clean.
