You should really consider giving the first game a nice well thought try. Treat it like a rogue like and move up in the world with as many guides as you need at the start (Personally i tried Cahara with Dash , escape plan and Lockpicking and i mostly just ran until i figured things out). Abuse saves and empty scrolls to get the good spells and weapons and once you hit a certain point, as long as you save constantly you shouldn't have any problem finishing the game.

i think people should phrase their complaint on the sexual and disturbing topic focusing on the graphical andbrutal aspect. R*pe in game exist, either suggested or show with camera angle or no sexual partes (hello silent hill) But F&H has very graphical and not suggested graphic sexual assault with element of inflated members suggestings physical pain; the facts it's also used as a punition in defeat is adding to the violence of the content. It's the opposite of Lisa the first for example, where nothing is shown but the horror is extreme (inescapable sexual torture) It's very different to have r*pe mentioned, suggested, and shown or describe in detail. So i'd argue the disclaimer could be more precise. It's also very biaised from me : i'm desensitized to canibalism while some people might not want to play the game because of this specificity The list of trigger warning on reddit exist for a reason and well.. some people don't know how to google search.

My first successful run was a run with Enki for ending A. I will never forget awaking after the fight at the bottom of the dungeon, before the god of fear and hunger, and being instilled with a sense of awe and primal curiosity. It reminded me of one halloween, where we had found a garage filled with a material that hid the depth of the room. To bear witness to it without understanding it would have been madness to me, that is why I needed to enter the garage, I had to make it to the back to know it wasn't endless. I suppose it's a similar curiosity that drives us through these dungeons our first time, we just can't help to bear witness to those horrors without finding the bottom.

Wish the developers would make a game based on the board game kingdom death monster!! This has a lot of ideas and concepts from that board game they just have to add a settlement area with your survivors to craft and level up and expand and then go on to hunts and boss battles. Your characters will die and suffer horrible injuries and afflictions but as long as you have survivors in your settlement from having them have children to raise then you will keep your chances to continue on alive in the campaign.

I gave a chance to both F&H1 and 2 but never finished them 1 felt like a far more coherent and focused experience, the characters all feel incredibly powerful in their own way, allies are easy to get, and the early game is pretty easy once you get started, but once you get to mehabra i just can seem to go any further, i still have RPG and think I need to fight every enemy, so one crow mauler or iron Shakespeare later and if I'm even alive then my resources are gone and my characters are all practically useless outside of being meat shields 2 has super fun play difference, each character feels different, some like marco and oliva make fundamental differences to play starting out, but even though its the newer game it feels worse in many ways, the map, the wait to recruit the allies, the leveling up and saving also being bound to the tine passing, its just rough, it puts me in a spot where I never want to sleep out of fear losing out, but also never really getting stronger I havent been able to finish either one but i had my fun, its also the game i crack out when i have homies over to torture them

Most of the things that can go wrong are instant game enders, so it ends up more of a trial and error game where you fuck up 20 times before you find the way to the next thing to do, resetting every time, rather than a punishing game where I need to live with the consequences of my mistakes like I expected.

I tried to play Funger blind closer to when it originally came out, I really did, but I just kept bouncing off. It was just too negative for me. The frustration I felt wasn't immersive terror, I was just annoyed that the game didn't explain itself at all to me. I put it down and forgot about it. However, after it became popular earlier this year and I started watching ~certain content creators~ dig into the game's mechanics - even if it spoiled me- I saw it was worth pushing through and I'm glad I did. Def one of my all time favorite games thematically - I hate that it was an experience I almost didn't have because I couldn't figure out the rules faster than it wore down my resolve. Going in blind works for some people, but I def think insisting it's the 'correct' or 'default' way to enjoy the game, or any game for that matter, is a sentiment the community could live without (especially when the game itself is both mechanically complex AND thematically disturbing). Some people get more out of the experience by figuring it out on their own, but some people don't and really that's fine. Different people enjoy the same things differently, and knowing what was coming didn't at all take away from the satisfaction I got from finally reaching the credits. While I don't think the game needs an 'easy mode' people do deserve to have agency over the way they experience the game - making it easier for themselves by seeking out knowledge SHOULD be the alternative we encourage when people struggle. TL;DR If you want to enjoy Funger "git guide" ≥ "git gud" + interacting with the video to boost it in the algorithm while the game's on sale for $3 on steam.

People who want an easy mode need to realize that easy mode IS in the game. It’s called playing with the wiki.

I’d say that, so far, the 2nd is a better jumping off point for people who want this type of content in an easier to digest/better made format

Is the game worth playing if you've already consumed a lot of content for it? I've watched some of your challenge runs, blind playthroughs from other creators, I've seen most of the endings at this point. I don't remember every little interaction but it gives me the vibe of playing through a puzzle game where I've already seen all the puzzles. I was considering just going straight to Termina since I haven't seen as much of it, but I'm open to being convinced to start with the first.

I got into fear and hunger thanks to pathologic. I consider darkest dungeon harder to play for my sanity and time because there you have to grind and start a new team again and again if you lose, but in both pathologic games and fear and hunger, avoiding most of the combat is not only posssible but the best decision until you get good equuipment.

(it took me two years to finish darkest dungeon - playing on and off because I couldn't afford spending hours grinding during exams season at uni - and then I randomly beat the game thanks to a bug. Lol. Still have to finish the court dlc but that one is sometimes easier, all things considered).

the only thing about fear & hunger that could stop you from playing it is the disturbing imagery. the game really isnt as hard as SEW made it out to be. as long as you're able to really interact with the unique gameplay and not get mad at the game for not being like every other RPG then you should be fine. also dont listen to SEW's advice about only targetting the head that's extremely stupid and goes against everything that the combat is about and even he doesn't follow his own advice so idk why he said that lmao. still sucks that he said that because a bunch of people who im sure would have enjoyed the game refunded it because the combat was apparently "too unfair" and had "too much rng", not knowing that they're supposed to be targetting the limbs first anyways cool video me like thumb up

12:27 I was that kind of person that though that the game hadn't any bug, till I my first time going to mahabre, I decided to explore the left zone before the right area, It took me like 2 hours and I got a lot of good items, and when I took one of those stairs that go to another map, I went down the stairs not from the center of the stairs but the right zone (where the tileset shouldn't make you pass) From that moment on I decided to always go down the stairs in the center part of the tileset ;-; PS: From that momment a lot of bugs started to appear XDD

i personally also think, no need to be ashamed if you use guide/wiki to play this game since i like roguelike game very much, but almost (i suppose) roguelike-ish RPG like fear and hunger will take very much time to master it and gotta say i currently don't have much time to learn it so most of the time i read wiki for like some option that i can do, what item is good for example i learn what salmonsnake soul is with wiki most of the time also i fight enemies blind, and if i lose i'll look it up what attack they have and how to prevent it

To be fair, "getting party members" and being able to save your progress reliably are not simply "things people should know about" - unless you go out of your way to find the single reusable bed in the game which is 2/3 of the way through the majority of any playthrough, it is a one shot where you either get good book rng or you lose limbs and HAVE to restart - while being fitting to the theme and game design, those two features are a hard sell and it's why those features were changed in Termina. It's very clear even the Dev realized how much of an issue since they went out of their way to give you multiple chances to save (both rng and not random) as well as the ability to fix broken or lost limbs.

I was someone who held the perspective, “Ah, it seems too hard, so I’ll just watch vids on it, and enjoy it that way.” But after giving it a solid try, beat the game, and plan to get the other endings. I think if you can get past the disturbing stuff, I believe you should definitely give the game a try: it’s hard, but far from impossible once you know what you’re doing.

How i see it: this game isnt as much about running through the dungeon, trying to survive in a one-life action game type of sense. It is much, much more about actual exploration and constant learning. You throw away a run to obtain knowledge to get further the next time, where there will be opportunity to learn.
