Neil Gaiman is my favorite author because of Coraline and Neverwhere. Absolute legend.

The book is actually an adaptation of the TV series, rather than the other way around.

honestly this one is really hard to classify, because Neil Gaiman wrote both the book and the series with basically the same thing in mind, and has commented that whenever the producers/directors had to cut a scene he would just say that it’ll be okay, he’ll “put it back in the novel”. So technically the series is an adaptation of Gaiman’s story, which is presented as the novel. Yes the novel came out after the series premiere, but I would consider the book the “original” version of Neverwhere, and the series the adaptation.

Actually he wrote it as he wrote for the TV series. So in truth the show nor the book are adaptations of each other as they where created at the same time.

A marvelous book from a brilliant mind. Love the characters and the story. So happy you read the way mr croup and me Vandermar were first described! Loved that so much I had written it down myself and drew them. I have Vandermar chewing on a rat. Haha

Neil Gaiman is underrated? I thought he was fairly popular, especially with female audiences.

@@InsteadofWriting I think as far as TV is concerned it is a masterpiece. It's as good as TV gets. There is little wrong with it on any level I was just being restrained. It made me want to read the book which I have yet to purchase. It's a bit like Harry Potter for adults, with a great story cast and a lot of humour.

@@TheCompleteGuitarist If you liked the series, I bet you will love the book. It reminded me of the "movie-to-book" feeling of The Princess Bride, where somehow the literary voice was even funnier than the film. The author's quirk is just so right on.
