I’m a hairstylist and although I’m SUPER appreciative of tips!!! I honestly don’t need them. I’ve priced my services based upon whether or not they tip. And I don’t give clients preferential treatment because of the tips but I do give them preferential treatment because of their professionalism. To me that’s more than the tips.

I am a tipper too, but I think at some point, we have to talk about the businesses compensating employees properly and taking from the c-suite salaries.

@valariewimes819 I feel you in that one. But, most companies aren’t going to give their service employees a livable wage. It’s just not in the business model. But, I am in the ATL and working on a way to make tipping fairer, less confusing, and less awkward 😉

I've owned a vehicle detailing business for many years now. I have not once ever asked for a tip. As I've gained experience, speed & efficiency I've raised my base prices across the board. No tip? No problem. I've factored into my pricing what I'm expecting & I'm delivering exceptional service.

My Barber actually operates on a no tip policy. He just offers exemplary service for a slightly higher set price. He feels like it offers a better experience with no anxiety or unsaid favors expected. However I've seen people argue with him about how he needs to accept tips and insult his logic lmao

In all honesty, if I buy from a small business and there is an option to tip, about 75% of the time I’m gonna do it to support but at the end of the day you shouldn’t feel OBLIGATED to tip, either you do or you don’t lol. I’ve had to learn to not feel bad about not tipping. At this point, I only really tip EXCEPTIONAL service 💯 Side note.. Donni what’s your beef with Five Guys? 😂😂

I have spent almost 2 decades in the front lines of hospitality and I have seen all the ups and downs of tipping.

I will not tip on a $700 bill, and here's why: The price was intentionally set higher than the service provided. I believe in tipping workers who are paid minimal or below minimum wage.

As far as charging for service, i agree, i could not add the tip into the bill. Even as a server, taking a chance i could nt. I worked in reasturants that you could automatically charge a 15% tip on a party of 5 or more people. I never did it and bc i was honest- i told them i did not believe in that, i want to make the money i legit earn= i always made more money than if i would have pre charged the 15% tip. I think, in this day and age, people value honesty and that trust you place in them.

In the UK we don’t tip. If you wanted to tip a waiter at a restaurant or something, you could just give them some extra cash before leaving but it’s not at all expected. Whenever I go to the US I get really confused because I don’t know what the rules are or how much to add etc. 😂 It’s nice to know that even US residents are also confused 🤣

When i went to Spain, there was no option for tips at restaurants i went to.. i asked and they said tips arent expected. (lowkey worked out cuz i was on a budget and that restaurant wasnt planned lol. 😅) And yep, just like nail salons, massages in the US, i just work tips into fhe budget now. They successfully bullied their tips into my mentality. I lost that battle lol.

I think tipping out of generosity is beautiful but we need to acknowledge that tipping culture comes from employers not paying their workers adequately. Everything is accomplished through some type of service but we don’t give tips to people who are perceived as having “good jobs”. We tip taxi/ride share drivers but we don’t tip bus drivers, train conductors or pilots when they all essentially give the same service.
