As I said in your prior video, for me, steel was flat out better. I actually had the same NS Pro 950GH in a prior set of Cobra F8 irons, but went with the TT Elevate ETS 95 for my current Callaway Mavriks. I am about a club longer now, but have to attribute much of that to stronger lofts in the Mavriks (7-iron 27* vs 29.5* in the F8's). Thanks for the interesting video.

Great video as usual! I think you made a great point explaining swing weight differences with each shaft. It seems clear that both SW and shaft weight changes made a huge impact in club delivery

Thank you Thank you!!!! Your videos are always so helpful. I had been worrying and wondering if I had any hip turn at all but your nugget about being able to lift my heel proved to me I do have some. Thanks so much for the help!!!

Just happened to me. Went from a 80 gram stiff graphite to a 105 gram steel shaft and I'm longer by 20 yards and my dispersion is much, much better. Even tried heavier graphites, but the steel shafts won. Crazy, I've always played lighter graphite because I liked to feel the club head more, but this was the first fitting I've ever had and it was an eye opener. Even got fitted for a putter and driver and those were a big deal. Been steady at 80 or under for the past year, best being 74 twice, but now I think these changes will help me break par very quickly.

Thank you for sharing great video. I got fitted to AMT Red stiff shaft. 7 iron Swing speed about 76-81 If I want to switch to graphite, would you recommend recoil 780 F4 stiff or recoil 760 F3 regular? What shafts would you recommend?
@SwingFit

Well it really does depend on how you load the shaft. If it is a fast transition big tug on the handle then going with the 780 might be a good fit if you have a smooth transition not aggressive then the 760 may be a good fit. The thing that you will want to be cautious about is what does the lighter total weight do you your timing. This is why I would say the only way to know for sure is to test and try. Believe me if it doesn’t feel good you will not swing it good…

Just got fit for som 921 Forged Irons with Nippon modus 120 X shafts. (I live in Norway, this was 8.30 on a cold morning. So club head speed was 3 mph slower than i normally hit when I hit my own irons for reference.) Club Speed 89.6 mph AOA -3.9 Dynamic Loft 21.8 Ball Speed 123.9 mph Launch angle 16.7 Spin 6297 Carry 157.6 m/ 172 yards Land angle 48.9 Would you recommend trying another shaft if I went for a 921 Tour head instead? Only played golf for 2 years, currently playing at 7 hcp and slowly going down. The target is to become a scratch golfer in under 3 years. Best regards Robin

Cg characteristics is going to be different, so I couldn’t confidently say that they will respond the same, but without question it is where I would start.

Thanks for another fascinating vid, that has raised some interesting questions. Although, I'm not convinced that in this scenario, it's just a graphite vs steel shaft issue. Perhaps it was just that the graphite shaft that your customer was using was too light & whippy and would a heavier graphite shaft with a stiffer torque & Bend Profile have helped him just as much as the Nippon steel NS Pro? I have been using the KBS TGI shaft for several years (luckily although I'm a senior I don't have flexibility issues......... YET) and I have never encountered the wide dispersion issues suffered by your customer.

Very, very true my man, in my honest opinion there are no doubt some great options out there in the graphite world and more weight options then ever before, but this would be my perspective. If I can find a lightweight steel option to produce the numbers we need I will without question do this 7 days a week and twice on Sunday, why simply because it costs less for the customer, and call me crazy but I’m a big fan of trying to help our customers keep their cost down. I know it goes against the grain from all of the other highend fitters out there but I like to think we’re a little different and I don’t mind marching to our own drum so to speak. 😀 So this just might make another great video Part 3, as I have steel shaft options as light as 65 grams…as always thank you for your support and sharing.

@@SwingFit Good point, cost for many people is a major consideration, so you are providing a good service to your customers by looking after their pockets👍 I originally changed to graphite because of elbow & wrist issues and the reduced vibration from graphite has certainly helped in that regard. But I do often ponder whether reverting to a midweight Nippon NS Pro or similar would help me gain more distance. Also because of my club delivery dynamics, I tend to launch the ball quite high and wonder whether I could lower my ball flight by changing back to steel. It might see if I can play around with some steel shafts to see if it can move my numbers.👍

Kewl, so I'm like this guy pretty much. I was in the RECOIL 760-R and I like either the Elevate 95-R or the Nippon N-950-R. So both are pretty similar so what would it come down to? Feel? How are different? Also I heard certain head work better with different shafts...Like a PXG-0311-XP and the new 2021-P790s. I know what your gonna say, but any insight I might see prior to Hitting them both. ;)

Nippon a should launch a little higher and some of the feedback ive received is that it feels like it release through the ball a little easier then that if the elevates but if course this is at the speed we are talking about. The outlier would truly come down to how you are loading the club. If you fell you are tugging in the handle or swing hard at the ball then elevate would likely be the better choice if it’s a smooth swing not overly aggressive then Nippon may be the winner. And yea you are correct the style of head will factor into this which is why it would be important to try these side by side.

Another awesome video .. interesting how with the nippon steel shaft the rollout was only 3 yards with 4800 spin , yet the graphite’s 12 yards with 5770 spin . Did the height really make that much difference?
@SwingFit
3 жыл бұрын
Without question both the Height and descent was impacted and with the additional speed the customer was able to simply pierce through the air a lot better so it could reach a higher apex to fall out of the sky opposed to be pulling down from the higher spin.

Yes the 7 iron, thanks for asking. whenever we do our fitting reviews we will always share details about the club they are hitting for that session.
