MESSAGE FROM 2021: During my time in Myanmar, I saw plenty of amazing sights, but there was one constant: the people. Always smiling, always kind and always welcoming. I’ve never known hospitality like it in all of my travels… But these kind people are currently being denied basic rights by an evil military junta who refuse to recognise democracy. Protesters are being detained and everyone is under a full internet blackout. I stand with the people of Myanmar against this oppression 🇲🇲

@@kurumimatsumoto8331 I think it's amazing the Karen soldiers are the oldest gorilla army in the entire world and they have been bravely fighting the ruthless monsters of the myanmar military for decades. I've known about the Karen war with Burmese military, the ethnic cleansing and destroying of villages is absolutely horrific. The Myanmar military has been getting away with crimes against humanity for too long now. I know it has been hard to be ignored by the world for so many years, and my heart goes out to your husband and his people, but I hope now with all the violence being exposed in all of Burma to the international world, I hope soon there will be PEACE, not only for Burmans but for all of Burma including Karen, Chin, Shan and all the different ethnic tribes that are part of the country's identity.

THIS! You articulated so many of my thoughts on Myanmar so well. Absolutely with you that Myanmar is unlike anywhere else in the world. In my two weeks there I was blown away by the food, the places and most of all, the people. I wanted to see Shwedagon as night falls, but had to hurry off to a streetfood tour (which was absolutely amazing). I wanted to visit the Snake Temple, but ran out of time - so I'm glad you got these in your video. 😃 Couple of other places in Yangon I loved - the Abandoned Amusement Park (next to the Zoo) and the Htwe Oo Puppet Show (in the puppet master family's living room!) - did you experience those too? I would also encourage people who are pondering the question of whether to visit Myanmar (not only to think about how many countries commonly visited also have attrocities being committed by their governments in one shape or form) but also to read the excellently written book "The River of Lost Footsteps: A Personal History of Burma" to understand the context of this fragmented land where conflicts in its borders have been ongoing long throughout history.

Thanks for your objective views and insights on Myanmar. Most people, especially in the West are misinformed about the country or they don't really know the story behind the story as presented by the news media. Instead of trying to find out about the real situation (I am not talking only about Myanmar) by going to a certain destination and see for themselves, they just want to stay in their comfort zones and soak in everything what the media tells them. Enough said! (because I don't want to get into political debates, particularly on travel blogs).
@XennialTraveller
4 жыл бұрын
@@chosett Well, politics affects everything. And nothing is ever truly "black and white", so my point (and I think yours and Ryan's too) is that people should really think more for themselves, and not close off a place because of a simple narrative presented. :) Myanmar really is a great country (I don't agree with everything the government is doing, but that goes for almost all countries I can think of), and I look forward to visiting again in future.

I really appreciated how you show this side of Myanmar. I'm Burmese and I've actually never seen a foreigner viewing like you guys did. In news abroad like CNN or BBC they would make Myanmar the "villain" and everything like ethnic cleansing. There is always 2 sides to a problem and people need to be open minded too. Racism could be the issues but who knows? What the soldiers and armies did, we citizens won't shoulder it. I don't think many people know but there are wars throughout the year. Internal conflicts happen all the time with the states. People burn villages and attack again and violence never end like a cycle. The Rohingya conflict is just ONE of them. I'm not covering up for my own country, but you should know this; our country was brainwashed for MANY years and live in fear but only changed a few years ago with the change of military junta to democracy. The citizen's opinions were never voiced out and although Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is leading democracy, she can't be president because of a ridiculous law only aiming at her and she can't shoulder all problems from decades ago. So I hope people would understand the BEAUTY of Myanmar

I didn't really know about Myanmar and the ethnic cleansing. I really enjoyed the intro sequence it set the scene of the video really well. BTW, your voice is really awesome for voice- over! The building around 2:21 is gorgeous. Not only that building but also the one around 3:14 is spectacular. Thank you so much for sharing this video on this place. I now learned a new country. At last, this is very well filmed and established. Great job! I definitely got a new subscriber here.

Most Burmese ppl are humble and genuine. They are kinda ppl who will provide a complete stranger with food and shelter not expecting something in return. That's the philosophy of Buddhism they are grown up with. Myanmar is often severely misinterpreted by Western medias. Just pay a visit and you will see a total different perspective after your trip.

I assure you that after or during your visit to Myanmar, you will come to feel Myanmar is well worth another visit. Here, tourists, irrespective of nationality and skin, are treated kindly in every part of the country by hospitable, humble and helpful residents wearing charming smiles on their faces. Old and new visitors from the four corners of the world are warmly welcomed to the emerging democracy, which is also known as the Land of Pagodas. Have a nice day!

Tourists weren’t opened before 2008 and we will be in jail if we are caught having 💵 dollar. Chain store like KFC and Pizza Company came in 2016. The country is now a open country and i hope more tourists will come. Additionally, Bangali (which they called Rohingya) are not the minority in fact they are the majority there due to repeatedly growing population. Not only muslim suffer but buddhist, hindus and others are suffering too from the on going civil wars. But the media covered only Banglis.

Well,I'm from Myanmar (also known as Burma) I'm really upset as a citizen of Myanmar that our country was misrepresneted by some of the media. To say out the truth,the spread ones are totally fake informations. But,most of us can't speak English fluently as English is not our mother language.Moreover,we prefer Facebook rather than Instagram,twitter, youtube,snapchat,………So,we can't solve this tie internationally Our voice couldn't be heard from the globe. We feel so uncomfortable with it. But at the same time,we are so glad that not all of the foreigners believe that non-sense news and some of the vloggers like you guys showed a different version of us which is kind,generous,warm,innocent,helpful (which we really are). We need more people like you guys and local influencers who would tell the truth of Myanmar for our country's image. Extra-I'm really touched to see those people in comment section encouraging others to visit Myanmar and their great experience and attitude on Myanmar.I'm really really appreciated about it. I admit that our country is a poor,and still-developing country.But it doesn't mean that we Myanmar are mistreating muslims or even on any other race. Well,I would just say "Welcome from Golden Land,Myanmar". Peace •~•

Having been to stay in the monasteries/meditation centres many times, I know very well that there is a side to Myanmar that couldn’t be more different than that portrayed by the western media. It is a huge shame that people around the world do not see this side ...maybe kamma....please don’t feel uncomfortable....meditation has all the answers and you have amazing teachers who willingly help you...you are incredibly lucky...

yes, it is difficult to view an entire country under the guise of it's government. take my country of the U.S. for example. I constantly worry that others will think of me as a staunch supporter of Donald Trump simply because I am an American. but I did not ask for him to become my president, I am stuck with him. just as most of the people of Myanmar, for example, are stuck with their government. as always, this video was wonderful. your skills at making these videos...you could be a professional documentary maker. you're better than many "professional" documentaries I have seen!

Admittedly, we did not know about the controversies you touch on at the beginning...but we do not watch the news... Nice makeup, Ryan! Very cool shot at 3:16 That does look other-worldly, almost like a snippet from a Star Wars movie. We found our own Htoo Htoo in Sarajevo! There's art found in all forms, so I am sure Emma's pottery would have found a home. 😄 Wow, that meal looks so amazing! Myanmar is actually on our list, and your video has cemented that further. Inspiring to hear what he said about being "second dad" and working hard, being honest, etc. Another genius film, Ryan!!
