Thank you for this. I'm right in the middle of shopping now, and I think I'll stick with the 2024 Touring. I also agree that the first year of a new generation can have a few bugs.

i bought a 2024 OBW in geyser blue literally a week ago. I love this thing so much that I don't think I will be looking into another vehicle for years. I'm curious though, why the redesign after only 3 years? Is it going to be a complete overhaul or minor changes? the OBW looks awesome right now. also, is their hybrid reliable? just curious.

Actually, it's been five years since the last all-new design in 2020. And yes, it is going to be a full redesign, everything from the exterior to interior and there's the likelihood of getting the new powertrain too! Their '22 Crosstrek hybrid did pretty well in reliability testings, attaining 8.6 out of 10. So yes, pretty reliable

I own a '22 Outback Premier XT and I can speak to the points you bring up in this video. 1. High ground clearance makes the vehicle great in snow, but terrible on the highway in windy conditions. I would even say the Outback is the WORST I have ever owned for driving in windy conditions. 2. The big Infotainment system is NOT fast to respond as you say. It usually takes a second or two to respond, which might not sound like a lot but is extremely annoying when you are driving and trying to switch radio stations or adjust the air conditioning. 3. The navigation system is NOT good. My wife and I gave up on it completely, and now rely on the Google Maps app on her phone, which is 100% better. 3. The 2.4L Turbo has plenty of get-up-and-go but is not fuel efficient. It is also noisy, especially when cold. 4. Not a quiet vehicle. Waaaay too much wind noise, probably from around the roof rack. There is plenty to like about the Outback, but also too much to dislike. I would probably NOT purchase another one.

2024 was updated in the infotainment system. No more lag very responsive. If you don’t like wind noise don’t get a lifted anything . Stick to sedans. This was not built with wind noise in mind . It was built with something more important in mind. This thing kills it in snowy conditions . Can’t speak on the navigation system Because I don’t even use mine . I use the wireless car play .

Is the same old gloomy, depressing, drab, outdated, boring Grey and Black interior colors going to be the same as they have been since 1990, which has been shoved down everyone’s throats for 34 years now? If so, you can keep your “All New” vehicle

Probably not since it's a full redesign, but we'll have to wait it out to be sure.

@@TheAutoBelt I’m not holding my breath. When Subaru did a total redo on the Forester in 19, it too had the same horrible 1990 interior colors, as they still do in the 23 year model. I own a Forester Touring and bought the Touring ONLY so I could get the Brown interior. If the Forester Limited would have been offered with the Ivory interior I would have bought that model instead. In most Toyota vehicles you can get the tan interior on almost every trim level, but not on Subaru’s. We looked forever to find Ivory interior for my wife’s Outback. Our 11 Ford Ranger XLT super cab 4WD pickup had gloomy grey and boring black interior, so I had it reupholstered in Red with black stitching to match the custom 2 tone paint (silver over red metallic), as we can NOT handle anymore decades old grey or black interiors.

Never buy a new design. Buy now or wait until 2027

I'll agree.. fewer issues by then. But it remains personal preference, and each person gets to choose

@@dhrtiwalter8670 The automaker is still working the bugs out for the first 2 years of a new generation or redesign. The 3rd or last year of the production cycle will be the best.

I just picked up a 2024 OBW. Awesome vehicle except for the rubber band transmission. My thought is if the Wilderness is usually a few years after introduction of a new model, OBW will be available in 2027. By then, I’ll know the resale value of my 2024 and decide whether the upgrade is worth it

My last two vehicles have been Toyotas and they’ve been awesome. I’m ready for something new and I’ve test driven the OutbackTouring ET and liked it a lot.Though the gas mileage isn’t any better than my current RAV4. I love the way it drove and felt. Most of what I’ve read about it sounds encouraging. Many people I know own Subarus and won’t buy anything else. I think like you mentioned the first year of any total new design is iffy. I think I’ll go with the 2024 Outback Touring XT this year and down the road if I want to move into a highbred, I’ll do a trade-in. Thanks for the information!
