What happened to just collecting what you like? Why does everything have to be an investment?

Quick math.. 200,000 cards at 15 seconds per card is 50,000 minutes, or 833+ hours or 35 days if you did it none stop 24 hours a day. If they did it non stop 12 hours a day it is 70 days or 2-3 months with no breaks. Yeah, seems possible. haha and that is at 15 seconds per card. haha. oh and that does not include paying employees etc. if you ramped it up to cut the time in half etc

Good video and discussion. Enjoyed seeing the stuff you guys go after in the Goldin auctions. Totally agree - there are some oddball items to turn over for easy $$.

Great content, as always. I have been collecting since 1977. In terms of the Clemons/Gray/Leaf claim regarding sifting through 200,000 cards for grading-I have curated a collection of 200,000 cards, after having looked through millions of cards. It has taken me 46 years to do it. Your point on time, resources, and return-there is none. It takes thousands of hours. There is no return, commercially, to do so. Most likely, the story is fantasy.

I don't know anything about autograph authentication, but I can't get myself to believe that a person can know with "certainty" that some other person made a scribble.

I don't recall ever hearing anything about that break in at Panini. Could Joe Clemons be involved?

Nice to hear your thoughts on other collectibles outside of sports cards. How much profit you need to make to make it worth your while in the long run is something that just doesn't get talked about enough by these "sports cards investors" (go figure).

Leaf Valiant is only 7 cards per box. That’s almost 3600 cases. That’s not counting the cards that went to distributors. No way in hell they made that much of valiant. Complete Bullshit. BG is full of it

200,000 cards at 15 seconds a card = 833 hours of labor. At $15 an hour that is 12.5K at $20 an hour its 16.67K and at $25 an hour its 20.8K. At 30 seconds a card (more reasonable as I'd assume you race through and pull out all "candidates" and then look at them again for longer), you can double those figures. We all know that once Black labels became a "thing" in the hobby that it was printing money to allow someone like Joe to get mass quantities of black lables and other "special" BGS grades. How much? Hundreds of thousands if not more. There is nothing special about Joe's ability to spot cards. Where are all his PSA 10's from 1970's cards? Or his BGS 10's and Black labels from last year? There aren't any because he didn't get black labels and 10's due to his eyesight.

at 1 min per card would take one person 140 days 24/7 to look at all those cards. Lets say they have 10 people thats 2 weeks 24/7. Cant work than many hours a day so would take 10 employees a min of 6 weeks. and most likely more like 8 to 10 weeks. 100% makes no sense with all the rest you mentioned on $$$
