Absolutely love this build as VF-84 is one of my favourite building topics. You sure did her justice and your building skills are phenomenal but the rivet counter in me could nog ignore a few inaccuracies. This is BuNo 151505 as shown on the tail and here’s some back ground about that plane: 151505 (MSN 678) (VF-84 attached to USS Independence (CVA-62)) exploded over Bach Long Vi Island, North Vietnam Oct 25, 1965. Crew ejected 10 mi S of the island and were picked up by separate rescue vessels. So we know this airframe was lost in the war and did not return home, this is important to know because… For a 1965 F-4B in Vietnam you need to bare in mind that - The trunnion covers (Tamiya parts N25 andN26) where not used back then - The VHF antenna on the spine behind the cockpit was not there - The tail number for the CAG 200 bird should read 1516 not 1506 as that BuNo number was used with different paint scheme for the tail (your aircraft should have the “waving-pirate-flag" tail instead of the full black used here, the full black was added when they where on their way home somewhere in december of 65 and this plane did not make it home) - The band markings (fuselage bands running diagonally over the spine) where predominantly yellow with black chevrons, they reversed the colour scheme as shown here upon returning home! It’s not to say you could not build an F-4b with that scheme but it’s not representative for this BuNo number. What aftermarket decals dit you use here? Some manufacturers do not take historical accuracy very serious! I have seen decals where the BuNo’s don’t even match the correct squadrons 🙄! Anyways, keep on building, I like what you are showing here 👍🏼😉!

I built the Academy kit in same scale and livery, first after a 30yr hiatus, and it re ignited my fire for model making. I think I emailed you pics of it a couple of years ago. Afternoon fella🍻 do you think this kit is easy to build in flight?
@seanerk5kt9
2 жыл бұрын
Ironically I’m building it in flight at this very moment. I plan on doing some videos on the build in general but to answer your question…No it’s not that easy. Closing the front landing gear bay isn’t too bad but trying to close up the rear bays are a real mess. The doors are a little oversized to fit in the openings and because each rear bay has three irregular shaped doors, it’s not easy.
