Deffo. One of the main reasons why I enjoyed THE TUDORS was mainly because of Sam Neill. An uncanny resemblance to James Mason, both in his voice, as well as his appearance.

actually I don't think it was a bad call. I really liked how they ended his character. His whole speech before it really set the mood for the end of his character. I felt he went out with a bang. I wouldn't have wanted to see him get beheaded or something else instead.

Sam truely brings something extrodinary to the role of Wolsey at start he seems manipulative ur not sure u like him then he starts to grow on you and at the end of the series u feel sorry for him and for what happens to him because he really did seem genuine in his love and service for the king and to have that taken away from him was a fate worse then death wich makes his choice in the end understandable even though it is historically unacurate he really makes the character come alive

It was suspected at the time that Wolsey got hold of some kind of poison and took it, so he may have committed suicide.

Henry V8 later regretted the death of Wolsey, and later Cromwell. The two hardest working ministers he had. It was true he blew up at his councillors and told them that Wolsey was a better man than any of them. All the councillors together could not do the work of one Wolsey and the king knew it.

Henry VIII was a raving lunatic who killed people around him left and right. Doesn't matter what he says after killing a person, especially when he goes and does it again to another.

@@ignacio4159 Yes I know that, but he did regret getting rid of his 2 hardest working ministers, however he did also make sure that no single individual ever had as much power as those two ministers had had ever again.

@@juanitarichards1074 he regretted their deaths in the way that he mentioned them in passing when he was at angry at his new councellors, like "you are all useless, these guys (whom I executed) were much better than you" I don't see that as regret, more like a veiled threat. Henry VIII was a fucking monster who killed those close to him, his counselors, his wifes, his relatives, he imprisoned his two daughters and invented a new illegitimate church because he wanted to score with a woman who wasn't his wife. Yeah poor poor Henry I'm sure if he could turn back time he wouldn't have executed anybody, sure thing...

@@ignacio4159 I have the entire series of the Tudors and the soundtrack cds so you're not telling me anything I don't know. I have watched the series hundreds of times, as we;l as every documentary ever made about the Tudors and read every book written about them. And you are delusional of you think I was sympathetic to him just because I made a statement of fact. Mehtinkis you doth protest too much..........in an unreasonable angry bullying fashion. just like Henry Vlll himself. Now fucketh off yon foreign bully. Nave!

...to be fair that was kind of what the series was built around. That's why they cast great looking actors that look nothing like the historical figures they are playing. The sex and intrigue is the entire show.

i find it strange that henry cavill and gabrielle anwar never mention each other. was there an animosity? a hidden affair. did they dislike each other. did they love each other. did they admire each other it does seem as thou all the other actors mention each other but never seem to have a word about Henry C and Gabrielle

Daniel 7:27, NIV Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him. 🕊️Prayer for All the Belivers🕊️ Lord our God!, Dear Father, you have made yourself known on earth so that we may love you and be loved by you. Give us your Spirit, we pray. Give us your Spirit to strengthen us in the life and work you offer us. Watch over us on all our ways. I'm sorry but The Tudors is just a bad show filled with mediocre actors. Basically, the only pleasing thing about it is the visual aspects and knowing that 90% of people will eventually be beheaded. That said, Sam Neill's performance in it was above and beyond, to the point where he pretty much carried the entirety of the first season. His prayer at the end of Death Of Wolsey has stayed with me as one of the best executed monologues in the history of television. It takes a good actor to make a complex character, and next to Neill's Wolsey, it's no wonder the rest of the cast fails so spectacularly and so often.
