A lot of Metal bands avoid the Pentatonic scale and avoid playing slowly, as if they forgot what Heavy Metal was/is in the first place.

@@licklibrary If it wasn't for Tony Iommi, I'd never have picked up a guitar in the first place!

Iommi is the reason I play guitar and have 3 sg’s setup with 8’s. I can’t play very well yet but it’s fun.

Hell yeah Iommi birthed the hell out of what I think is the only metal sound that matters! Thrash metal can suck it. Death metal, black metal all that shit sounds the same to me. But Tony Iommi. He's truly the father of Heavy Metal.

As SLEEP always say: "Praise Iommi"

He also incorporated a lot of Jazz, Funk, Flamenco styles into Heavy Metal. Take the last half of Symptom Of The Universe. What starts as an iconic Heavy Metal song evolves into a Spanish/Jazz jam which is still, undeniably Heavy Metal. I think a lot of bands today forget that Metal doesn't need 250 bpm, a hundred-note solo, and walls of distortion, and can musically take you places you've never been before.
