Nylon is hydrophylic so will absorb water and of course heat expansion is also a factor with all materials, so either are likely causes for the bush tightening. Maybe a graphite impregnated PTFE would be an option for future.

Yep they can expand by a surprising amount from water absorption, around 0.5% which is plenty enough to start binding if it was a snug fit to start with.

I made one from a polly pipe fitting, thinking the needle roller would be the go from now on.

Only ever seen two Imps racing in Australia not that i when to every event. Fascinated by engine and car, doing rebuilds in the car ect. I can see why people love playing with them. Kit from down under

That rally IMP sure was unlucky! but it must have been through some extremely dusty roads for it to have collected such an amount on a navigational rally after you had rebuilt it! Either that or he took a few shortcuts via the wonderful Welsh forests! Yet another great video with very interesting content!

From memory on the race Imp we fitted a 6mm x 15mm bar on a pivot blocking the gear lever from reverse. You could flick it out of the way if needed. It dropped into a notched plate as double reinforcement in case things got heated!

I'd always for for a K&N filter over any other style of filter, David Vizard did some tests on various filters and the K&N came out on top for both air flow and stopping particles getting through the filter.

Warning to any one who runs their car in dusty conditions. Do not use piper X filters. They do not filter the air satisfactorily. Obviously much better if oiled and perfectly adequate for the circuits but rallying in the forest; forget it.

I know Jack. Didn't he come and collect the Californian and the A40 with you? He's the pie-eater. You can come and get the Rawlson front end, since you're nearby ETA: damn. too late. I thought it was a live show. 😆

Unfortunately not as quick as James on the interlock plate, but I've already got the tee-shirt! What's the mod on the the end of the mainsheet, looks like you've added a thrust bearing and a load of grey silicone sealer. Be interested to understand
