Trick to catching spadefish. When the jelly balls show in the summer, dip net a dozen or so. Go to a reef where you know the spadefish are. Fashion a wire coat hanger into a loop and thread half dozen jelly balls on, attach to down rigger or rope with weight. Lower down to the structure and when you see the 'nibbles' raise the hanger up 10' and wait for the next nibbles. Keep doing this until they're right under the boat and they'll be ready to bite. One ought stainless bait hook and small piece of jelly ball free line beside the boat with small spinner. Hang on!

Tug have u ever eaten a triggerfish that tasted really bad? Like really off tasting? I'm just curious cause my dad and I caught a mess of em a few years ago and there were 3 or 4 out of the 13 we caught that tasted awful. We didn't figure it out till after we cleaned and fried them. They didn't look different when we cleaned them but 6 or 8 of the fillets just had a real funky taste to them. And B4 u ask they were all caught in the same place and kept on good ice for no more than a few hrs. Didn't know if u had ever run into that.

DANG! Those are some huge spadefish! You said something about them being difficult to harvest, that they don't want to bite? Well I'm pretty sure that I've seen someone else's videos in the not so distant past, where they were targeting spadefish. I'm not too sure of what they were using for bait, but they were catching a lot of them. The other thing was that it was off of a pier in Pensacola or somewhere around there. Anyway, they were talking about them being very hard to catch and hard to fillet but the average size of them were basically dwarfed by the ones you were catching. They were small like bream (sunfish, bluegill, etc.). Anyway, I'm not sure if they just don't get big over there, or what's the deal? Like I said I more or less forgot what kind of bait they were using. But if I do a little research on KZitem, I might be able to find it and then let you know. There was a KZitemr from Pensacola who passed away somewhat early. For the longest time he was in the hospital, and then I guess he just "went." That was Camera Man Ron, He was the one who was catching the spadefish, In case you want to look it up yourself. You probably already know what to do. That all (for the most part), sums up my comment: HUGE SPADEFISH!!! Keep fishing! Keep putting videos out, I appreciate it. PEACE & GOD BLESS! 🎣🐠🎣🐠🎣🐠🎣🐠 *(The emojis look like spadefish😳)
