@@infiniterer287 It's actually more like Judo and Sambo... Many people claim that it has Mongolian origins but honestly it felt like a Stand Up only version of Judo when I used to train it. They have an oddly Japanese style belt system in many Shuai Jiao schools which made me curious as to what the origins are. I can't really find anything concrete about these specific Shuai Jiao schools before the 1920's so I think it's just Chinese Judo. No ground work is taught in most schools because the competitions don't allow it. It is basically stand-up judo

Judo has had many techniques like this removed in its transition from old school jiu jitsu. I think all of the martial arts that have manily become sports have much more damaging techniques like this that aren't taught anymore. The cool thing, in my opinion, is just how similar they can be across different disciplines since it was all stuff that people battle tested and realized it worked.

@XRay22AW You are absolutely right my friend. Okinawan karate (which comes from the martial art known as"Tē") had originally been inteded to be used in a much more harmful and deadly manner that embodied the viciousness of a feral animal in regards to its practical use case (to fight an armed samurai with next to nothing) and because of imposed disarmament of Ryu-kyuans (ie. sword ban punishable by death, and a lack of natural metals) fighting with a samurai meant you absolutely did not give a fuck or you were figuratively backed into a corner and so needed to make due with next to nothing. My dad used to tell a story about how there once was 4 okinawan brothers who traveled to 4 different countries (China, korea, thailand, Japan) learning different forms of self defense and martial arts and when they returned combined what they knew together into one; Tē in order to give the okinawans a chance in self defense against brutal samurai regimes who'd ravage through Okinawa at seemingly random times for nothing more than glory disguised with the justification that okinawans would trade with Chinese. The funniest part is how the Japanese samurai would conquer Okinawa for trading with Chinese only to then use the Okinawans connections to then trade with Chinese as the Chinese didn't really want to put up with their war mongering asses lol. Also the practioners would focus on strengthening things like fingers specifically to enhance more gruesome techniques.

I think many people would love to learn shuai jao, but unfortunately China rarely allows foreigners to compete in shuai jao competitions, except for exhibition matches. Even in exhibition matches, they only match foreigners against other foreigners, or against very high level Chinese athletes. The unwillingness to allow foreigners to excell in shuai jao makes it essentially impossible for the sport to grow.

Many martial arts have roots from greek to china snd india for example kalaripayatu is not indian but aryan martial arts Aryan ( slavs-serbian ) martial arts Have root of all martial arts over the world …. Aryan tribes knew what we call thai boxing wrestling ( judo) or aikido …. Even weapon skills too … you must go deep to ancient time and discovery truth ….
