Exactly this. They're sold out on Amazon right now, but I'm glad I got my hands on one early. Crazy how a simple 15 dollar fix ups the quality on this mic!

You can just put the sm7b filter on it and it solves the problems. It’s like 10-15 bucks and looks great.

My opinion...not a very good mike at all. You touch that strip while using and you hear it. Mini USB is loose, will not hold up. It does not sound better in my opinion than a 16 bit Yeti. Why should i have to speak into the side of a front address Microphone and buy a replacement screen. Invest the 150 dollar difference in something nice.

Color: go black - shiny silver is intrusive. Unless Shure sponsor it! 2 Outputs - could be very useful with unpredictable levels - often pros record a second 'safety track' one channel is 'hot' (might clip), the other is 'safe'. Less of an issue with low self-noise and 24-bit, but still great to have 2 copies for 'resilience', on different platforms, during shooting. Especially with a USB Micro-B socket! I hope XLR is just via fixed pre-amp: not variable-gain, comp limit, AGC etc. Reviews say 'quiet', so maybe XLR is RAW capsule output? On-line manual says "Passive XLR" so yes! ("does not require phantom power" - headphone-out needs USB power, I guess) More of an on-camera ENG field-recording thing (Sony XLR-K1M), but interesting. Pop-filters are usually an open-mesh disk: try layers of nylon stockings over the foam! There is also a very old trick with a pencil stub - glued to the foam? You could take a knife to a spare SM7B foam "Shure RK345" - Black Replacement Windscreen for SM7 Models There are may cheap chinese SM7 foam options to experiment with. +shock-mount : www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08NV88L1H/&tag=initialfoc0e2-21 SM7B is so much a studio mic no-one makes a custom-fit 'dead cat' fluffy wind-shield. Styling reminds me of 🇬🇧Aston Microphones - their 'Stealth' is also worth a look, plus their pop-filters. Can we request a shoot-out: Rode NTG4+ Sennheiser MKH 416 Shure MV7 Aston Stealth Synco D2 etc? Most manufacturers are 'nice' to reviewers ... PS "Currently, we do not recommend using USB-C iPads with MV7. Unfortunately, the ShurePlus Motiv apps will not recognize the mic on a USB-C iPad." They will definitely be making a 'Mark 2' ... sometime! "Mac computers do allow configuration of two MOTIV devices, so long as you create an Aggregate Device in your system settings."
I just did a Christmas song with this mic. Plosives are a problem but it's an amazing mic. Just need to invest in a pop filter on Monday. I was going to do a video in 2 weeks with a very similar title. I highly recommend this mic. I can almost guarantee it will replace the sm7b in terms of popularity. You don't even really need a cloud lifter with xlr either and the sm7b is analog only whereas you can plug this directly into your phone, computer or iPad or whatever. It's great

Oh also have a pair of OLD 5.1 surround head sets that have 5 speakers in each ear piece. JMHO. tell me I'm wrong.

Great video, you were spot on. I use this mic in the basement where my boiler kicks in every now and then and that background sound is totally isolated when I do my voiceovers. FYI the way I was thought when using any high quality mics is to speak across the mic from the side and not directly in line especially when trying to avoid plosives sounds from ( P ) and ( S ) The only time I speak directly into the mic is when using the far feature and I don't want the mic in the camera frame but I would have to maintain head position and posture. This was a great review of this product. 👍👍👍👍
