I definitely like the sound of the MV7 more than all the mics you compared it too, with the sole exception being the SM7b. That being said, I definitely think that the MV7 will make people think twice before spending at least an additional $150 on the SM7b, when you can get a Shure dynamic mic that sounds extremely good for $250 instead of $400.

Thank you for trying to test the microphone without being "influenced". The Shure MV7 without the sponge is a bit weird. It reminds me a bit of when I was young and I see Robocop without his helmet. Maybe it will be good to prepare an episode with microphones that are not really dedicated to the Podcast, but which can give a good result (like some Shotgun microphones).

The Rode Procaster sounds great for that broadcast sound. I feel like the podmic sounds very natural and is a great buy for $99. Now this may be why I’m not a musician but to me this mic sounded eerily close to the sm7b almost too close and for half the price with both XLR and USB functionality for seemingly upgradability (from usb to xlr) etc. in all honesty to me there was almost no notable difference.

Thanks for this detailed review, Podcastage! I retained my firefighter gear from year ago and retrieve it from the basement each year so it can serve as my Halloween outfit. Happy Halloween! I pivoted from a Blue Yeti (for the past 7 years) to a Shure MV7. I use the USB interface. I perceive the MV7 as a significant audio-quality upgrade over my YETI. I only use the microphone for speech. However, plosives were an immediate problem with the MV7. After watching other YT reviews and reading forums, I largely resolved that issue my purchasing and installing the foam windscreen for the MV7B. It's part number Shure RK345 and is made to fit the SM7, SM&A, and SM7B. It was $15 from B & H photo. The RK345 has thicker foam in the area that fits over the top of the mic. Visually, the MV7 looks more professional in my podcasts and professional videos. It also fit like a charm on my RODE PSA1 boom arm. I've been very happy with the Shure MV7 for podcasting and recording instructional videos.

The sound of the MV7 is not great at all to my ear, your video convinced me.. Your voice is great with other mics, but not this one, and same is happening to me. It has a "closed in" sound to me, not "airy" at all, and seems to exaggerate the mids and bass, while missing the top end. I'm not an expert whatsoever like you, so I could be wrong.. but this mic is definitely not "music to my ears" .. The Sennheiser Profile and AT2020X seem the best so far, after the Neumann of course. I noticed the Sennheiser is rejecting the "bad" sounds on the other video, and you mention it has some circuitry for that, so this is something really good to know. I think the Sennheiser is very "flat" and realistic, without "scratching" my ears, so that might be my next mic.

Your own opinion, - pros/cons if each setup. Thank You so much if are reading this. Would be happy to read below (or see in next video) your suggestions.
