Does it come with the standard crap jazzmaster bridge?

I think so. That said, I haven’t experienced any issues with strings popping out like people complain with the standard setup, so... not sure. I think they might have moved the trem assembly? I’d have to read up on it. It has nearly the same trem as the MIM Jazzmaster reissue, except the Blacktop one doesn’t lock.

Yep, it's pretty bad. I've had some saddle screws fall out, strings pop out occasionally. I had to get and install a Staytrem system because the original bar would just fall out of the guitar, pretty ridiculous. Fret finishing is subpar. Started using this guitar more recently which is forcing me to look for a replacement. But, at the time I only paid like $299 for it.

How did you get your tremolo arm to stay in because I’ve got the exact same jazzmaster and mine just falls out?
@QueChingar

You can put a bit of tape on the very bottom of the tremolo. Also, if you get tired if you're saddles dropping, put plumbing tape over the risers.

Your collet is probably bottomed out next string change take the trem cover off and push it back in. Tape helps , but to much and it will push the collet back out.

Musicians Friend had them on sale for a bit - maybe $500? But that was many years ago, and similarly priced models at that time now sell for $900+.

Samuel HerMan Thanks for your comment. The guitar is stock. Fender listed the pickups as "custom" but really were not too impressive. If I used this as a main player, I would likely go with Dimarzios actually, though tough to go wrong with a Seymour Duncan Jazz / 59 combo. Dimarzio offers some higher gain pickup that sound real good for rock.

I've acquired the same guitar recently. What's the string gauge of your jm? I'm planning to install a buzzstop. Btw my pups are Petrucci set.

I think it came with 9’s. I later put on 10’s. Did you install the buzzstop?

Johan Nieuwenburg Thanks for your comment! Actually, Fender switched up their SN dating. The MN was 90's - so MN5 was a '95, same with MZ6 being a 2006 - but for 2010+ they use two numbers for the year. So this guitar was MX14... meaning its actually a 2014.
