Another Brick in the Wall part 2 was written by Pink Floyd's Roger Water and expresses fictional Pinkys concern over a society and schools with abusive teachers and a system that encourages obedience over learning. A system that merely trains children to conform to society’s expectations and submit to authority without question. They have determined that its children will be more productive to their agenda and beliefs if indoctronated. Self identity and free will have been stripped from them. It's not so much a blanket statement on education itself, but rather a statement to inspire a sense of individuality.

Hi! Important to know this double album is a "concept album" where all the songs relate and are part of a complete story. The Wall is a metaphor representing blocking the outside world out of your life. Each experience could add to the bricks making it stronger to keep people out, but also making it tougher and tougher to relate to other people. This song represented the bricks in the wall by bad teachers and the education system in general that is more of an assembly line turning out clones. The kids rebel at the end and claim their identity back.

I don't see it that way. The children rebel against the abuse and the overbearing authority but they aren't capable of making their lives better. They are only capable of breaking things up. They're brutalised. They can only produce a world that is as bad as before.

Brilliant, I just love how 4 guys from London (England) more than 40 years ago, can say something that still resonates with you guys thousands of miles away all these years later. Check out Pink Floyd:- "Money" its where the Boys poem comes from and highlights the absurdity of extreme wealth. Or "Us and Them" an Anti War song. my advise is have the lyrics available 😉

I enjoyed watching your reactions, It's awesome seeing younger generations discover Pink Floyd, I would suggest that in the future that you all listen to Pink Floyd with headphones or ear buds, it is much more enjoyable that way, and I Hope that you continue to see how far the Pink Floyd rabbit hole goes, you will be embarking on an extremely enjoyable journey, Please check out their 1994 Pulse concert, the entire concert is awesome indeed, God Bless you all.

I know exactly what the kid felt like. As a musician I would be composing complete pieces of music in my head during lessons and the teachers thought I was daydreaming. Lost count of the number of times I got hit across the knuckles with the edge of a ruler. School was very strict back in the 70s and we got 'the cane" from the headmaster if we did something really wrong. I hated school, but it made me tough. ✌️❤️🇬🇧

That's what school for me in the 70s. But my daughter was 9 and her friend was in trouble at school but my daughter tried to say to the teacher that her friend was innocent but the teacher wouldn't budge. So my daughter told her she was just another brick in the wall. That was only 8 years ago.

The poem scorned by the teacher is actually the lyrics for a verse of their biggest single hit ever: Money from DarkSideOfTheMoon. The entire MOVIE of TheWall is now on YT, at least here in the USA... Check it out folks! Thanx for this great group reaction!!!

This is the movie version. The 'poem' the teacher reads are the lyrics to 'Money' from Dark Side of the Moon. For a really good live version, try The wall live 1981. This song was released as a single in the UK in 1979 and topped the charts at no. 1. There is a 'pop' video to go with the single which includes clips from the movie. In the movie, Bob Geldof plays 'Pink' and in 2005 he organised Live 8 achieving the impossible , reuniting Pink Floyd with Roger Waters (they had a massive bust up just after The Wall) for their final appearance together.

@@FunkyVibes-e4t I'm glad you all enjoyed it. PF are a band who made albums like art. Their 70's albums, Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You were Here, Animals & The Wall need to be listened to in their entirety, each in one go since all the tracks are linked by great transitions. Dark Side, for example, is really one track about 44 minutes long. PF pioneered 'Progressive Rock', or just 'Prog', which approaches albums telling a story or linking all tracks around a theme. Its a trend PF began with 'echoes' on the album Meddle which in vinyl form, takes up all of side 2!. And then there are the live shows...Floyd are probably the band that invented the light show and they can fill stadiums. Pulse 1994 from Earls Court is a great gig (Comfortably Numb from this show was voted the greatest guitar solo) but you should listen to the studio versions first. Lots of love from the UK, enjoy Floyd😊, they are unique.

If you don't FEEL the bass in your stomach, then your sound set- up isn't working. I'm your oldest sub (from Canada) and this is to give you a better chance: your sound is badly off. You gotta fix it. Peace, love and bellbottoms.

Did you know that this song, as well as the album The Wall, were banned in South Africa in 1980 after it was adopted by supporters of a nationwide school boycott, protesting against instituted racial inequities in education under apartheid.

In some ways this is more relevant in our "Educational System" today. But, "Pink Floyd" is not only a "Vibe" they are in a different "Stratosphere" If you have not looked in on, Comfortably Numb" please do "Pulse Concert" Live. They are entrancing to watch. Good Choice, but Live is best. Peace and Happy Holliday's 🎄

Only problem with the reaction is you won't really understand the context. You would have to listen to the entire album before you could really understand
