What a movie! *What a fucking movie!!!* In an age where we are numbed by constant "action" and CG destruction and cheap thrills, here we have a film with the right people at the helm, the right people to portray the play, here's where you can achieve more with less. Mood/atmosphere is really important and I don't see enough of that in today's movies anymore. This is true craftsmanship. There are flicks where by the end of it you are done with your popcorn, then there are films where by the end your popcorn was left untouched because your heart has been stuck up your throat through the whole running, films where you are not a viewer but a passenger. IMO, it takes full score 10/10 cinematography 10/10 sound 10/10 acting 10/10 dialogue Action and suspense is one thing, but one scene kinda stood out to me, the part where the silhouettes of the soldiers disappearing into the darkness of the foreground at the twilight of dawn. The film didn't treat you like an idiot either(another example of less is more), e.g "you will be committing suicide" just one line unfolds so many things, it starts with understanding the ownership of the gun, then your mind goes wild with even further prognostications, when it was stressed at the max already. Some parts are less believable though, like (off the top of my head) the strength of the gangs on the highway or the men at the villa, rubberband, or dying man *casually* drive, *turn* and stop like that. It's just Little stuff you can sweat off though.

For me the most powerful scene in this movie is when they are on the rooftop watching the battles going on in Mexico then for a second you see the police lights heading towards the gunfire. Such a powerful scene, it hits you hard and makes you think that their are real cops in Mexico going lights and sirens towards what is technically combat, also not knowing if the person next to you is going to pull their gun on you. Don't buy coke people, you buy coke means you supporting the war in Mexico.

And with Villeneuve, an extraordinary director responsable of films like Prisoners and Incendies, I really hope she finally gets the credit she deserves now than she has proved than she can play any role she wants. I appreciate Emily Blunt and Daniel Kaluuya for taking on the roles they did in this film. They were definitely not easy to admire in the movie but their characters add depth to it and make it a lot more realistic. 👍🏻

One of my top movies of all time! No cheesy lines It's serious and realistic as it can be tho it could have been nice if it got more raw/gore scenes. Thrilling, intense, good build up of the story, tension and enough of action This movie is not for everyone. I knew it would be good by watching the first minute. And yea im not surprise that this is the reality in the world we live in

not all people is bad in Juarez, but the good people are also responsible for letting the cartels run everything, corrupt everything, they are the assholes who murder hundreds of young women and you all know it, and don't do a thing about it, many people say el chapo ' s cartel just keeps to it's line of business and don't rape and murder women, they say his cartel don't kill innocents, I don't know if that's true, but if it is then he should take over that city once and for all, since seems nothing else can ever be done.

"Nothing will make sense to your American ears... but in the end you will understand" The whole movie sees Blunt's character shocked and horrified by the CIA's methods, but at the end she comes to a begrudging understanding with Del Toro's character. It's kind of like a loss of innocence movie.

Just saw this. The film score and use of landscape establishing shots reminded me of True Detective season 1. It was a really good movie. The first third was heart pounding, the next third was a bit slow but still interesting and necessary, and the last third was raw, brutal, and intense. It was definitely worth seeing.
