Dr. Tasha, I have found many of your videos to be very helpful. Your calm and straightforward manner in addressing many difficult aspects of the journey through cancer diagnosis and treatment are much appreciated. I have one small quibble with you in your discussion on depression. You say, 'Some are helped by one-to-one counseling, however others may benefit from seeking professional help.' Maybe it's a difference between the UK and the US, but in most states in the US, people must get degrees and pass national exam in order to practice "talk theraly." As a clinical psychologist, I am a licensed professional, as are licensed professional counselors, licensed social workers, etc. We all may do one-to-one therapy with patients. If you were trying to say that some may, in addition, need antidepressant medications which can only be prescribed by physicians (ideally, psychiatrists), that is true. However, research shows that the combination of medication and psychotherapy has the best outcome in treating depression. This comment was very jarring in an otherwise excellent presentation.

This is wonderful. I found that my mind would wander when I first found out I needed surgery. Even afterward, it would wander. I decided to write a confessional to speak over my life and body. It has helped my mental health a lot and I'm thankful. Staying positive and writing positive words over yourself has been so important in this process. Thank you Dr. Tasha.

had a lumpectomy LT breast, 2 months ago, terrible recovery had a seroma, 3 wks after surgery. post surgery I still have slight underarm numbness and have that shooting pain in the breast towards the nipple from time to time. having a difficult time setting up my radiation treatment due to needing FMLA paperwork signed and my radiation Dr is dragging his feet with those deadlines.. quite disappointing really. considering not going thru with the radiation due to the hassle of all the paperwork my job requires... just want all this behind me...

Dear Dr. Tasha, how long does the hard tissue under the scar takex to soften, it has been a year since my surgery and it is still hard, it got worse after radiation therapy. Is it helpful to massage the area and use castor oil packs ?
