OKRO / OKRA, also known as “lady’s finger,” is a flowering plant with edible seed pods, and belongs to the same plant family as hibiscus and cotton. It is most often cultivated in Africa and South Asia because, it grows best in warm climates.
It is worthy of note, that the term “OKRO or OKRA” most commonly refers to the edible seedpods of the plant.
Although widely regarded and used as a vegetable in cooking, OKRO is technically a fruit. OKRO will not be one of the first names that pop up when we talk about healthy foods, but it has a lot of healthy and medicinal benefits. Many fruits lack proteins, but not the OKRO, as that is the one attribute which makes OKRO unique. Additionally, it is low in calories and carbs and contains some protein and fiber.
