Paul's scene on the porch with Maya, where they both expound on their love of wine - one of the best scenes ever. That one scene made pinot sales explode for years! I ran the Sideways Wine Club from 2005 - 2010, and still carry Santa Barbara Pinots I discovered back then. They are world-class!

One of the greatest endings in a movie of all time. It's a 'literary' ending - a 'literature' ending maybe; something you would find in a literary novel. It's also a complex but very satisfying ending... for adults! 'Complex' adults! Love Giamatti in it. The whole cast tell the story of the characters perfectly. Big time stuff.

That's exactly it. Very flawed, yet relatable people, adulting their hearts out. They're exactly like me, if I knew anything about wine, had written The Great American Novel, and was as beautiful as Virginia Madsen. And you just know that Miles is going to write a highly acclaimed and successful second novel. You hope, anyway. He has it in him.
