I have to differ with Sifuna about having a committee to interrogate CS's. PARLIAMENT IS BETTER BECAUSE THERE WON'T BE NO DOUBLE SITTING ALLOWANCE. HAVING A COMMITTEE WILL AGAIN SPEND MONEY PAID TO THE MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE. ALLOW PARLIAMENT TO INTERROGATE BECAUSE EVERYONE WILL ASK QUESTIONS.
@georgeodhiambo598
Жыл бұрын
Parliament operates through departmental committees. They are smaller and can be more focussed on key issues. The departmental committees then present their reports to the whole plenary for adoption or further scrutiny. The whole plenary is too large and unwieldly to interrogate a CS unless they want a CS to clarify a point in the departmental committees report. Big is not always better

Unless there is a radical change interms of sustainable social economic policy change by Azimio, I do not see voters flocking to support Azimio even if they are not friendly to Kenya Kwanza hustler idiology. It will be difficult for old guard recycled opposition to convince new generation voters that they have new solutions to issues they have not solved for decades.

Senator Sifuna you are always on point and articulate. I agree with several points you made 1. Azimio's pressure on the government is paying off 2. Committees are the best avenues for interrogating public officials 3. The international community prioritizes its own interests over good governance 4. Former governor Sonko avoided scrutiny by the committee 5. Governor Oparanya is simply a victim of political witchhunt, a recurring theme that was present in Uhuru's government 6. The 1% mandatory allocation of the county budget to sports associations would help nurture sports 7. Funds collected from sports betting should be directed to their rightful use and not universal health care 8. The CS of President Ruto do not have the capacity and should be quickly replaced 9. Azimio cannot be blamed for the actions of the government 10. Recommendations arrived at by senate committees should be implemented and not ignored Good work Kiongozi, may God continue giving you more wisdom and more health to continue serving Kenya

@@sifa455 It is a pity that after over 60 years of independence in Kenya, people still reason along tribal and clan mathematics. How did Nyerere, a person from one of the smaller tribes in Tanzania become such an outstanding leader in his country? How did Mandela, a leader from one of the smaller tribes in South Africa ascend to become the towering a political figure he became and even ushered in SA's independence? What makes Kenyans fail to see beyond tribes and clans and even subclans? Luhyas complain about the negative of impact of tribalism at national level. But when given a chance to showcase how things could be run better in their counties, you step forward Gere only to preach to us that Oparanya should not be given the mandate to unite Luhyas because he comes from a small clan within the Luhya nation! Common sense. You don't double the fuel levy, then you claim prices can't come down. If this government feels the problems are so heavy for them and wants to blame Uhuru till 2027, they can as well resign and give Kenyans the lousy government that Uhuru left so that others can patch the so-called bad government they have so far mysteriously afforded luxurious cars for themselves with. Your role and mine is not to defend the government; it is to demand answers for all questions raised to keep them in check. Supporting the government unquestioningly is what encourages them to loot.
