When I mounted the EPS carry on my X-Macro I used a thin, even application of E6000 adhesive between the optic and slide before torquing the screws in. It's like silicone calk but much stronger. I reasoned that it would help mitigate the shearing forces at play between the mass of the optic and the slide during recoil. I have no doubt is will be easy to remove the E6000 when needed.

A few possible problems if you used the provided screws. The screws that come with the EPS carry are too long for flush mounting with the Macro. It sucks, but you have to order shorter screws to be able to actually hold the optic at the torques setting rather than bottoming out inside the slide. Did you grind/shorten your provided screws down? They shouldn’t be difficult to thread in. The Sig manual says 9in lbs (I know, seems light to me too, so I’ve been doing mine at 12). Or just bad luck. I’m glad your eye is okay and that your Macro is shooting great for you now.

Same setup but red optic. Included screws were too long without the plate leaving a loose optic. I would not shoot without the plate installed. Contacted Holosun, they sent out replacement screws which worked without the plate. Compared the screws, the shoulder length of the screwheads were different. Heard others have gotten the exact same screws as replacement from Holosun, guess I was lucky. Fdez werx also carries the proper screws to mount without the plate, so have spares now. That said... All screws threaded as should. They were snug but did not feel like was going to strip the threads installing them. Only issue had and one to watch out for... While shooting the screw for the battery door cover worked loose and came out. Luckily found it since shooting from a concrete pad at the range, used locktite when replaced it, no problems since

Chances are either they didn't want to "repair" it by drilling out the busted screw and likely damaging the threads that allows the screw to be held in place or they damaged the threads in the process which meant they had to replace the entire slide anyway. I ran into a similar situation with my Grand Power Stribog when I tried taking the 2 screws that hold the ejector in place. Now I am NO gunsmith, so I ended up stripping both screws and in the process of trying to drill the screws out, I snapped both screw heads off; which released the ejector from the frame (I was doing this as one of the required steps to remove the 8" OEM barrel in favor of a 16" barrel to convert the Bog to a legal Carbine rifle and to use a folding stock) but then the rest of the screws were stuck in the screw holes of the ejector. I spent some time trying to drill the remainder out but realized that I likely would damage the threads in the process; which later I was successful and did actually destroy the threads. But I had already reached out to Global Ordnance (the importer of GP) and requested a replacement ejector; which they did without question. After getting the replacement part, I completed the installation of the carbine kit.
