Will that mortar allow for expansion and contraction I admit I don't even know if expansion is even a problem with a stone walkway
@sherryneglia4804
So problem with cement/mortar/grout is actually more shrinkage than expansion and contraction. For structurally important situations like foundation underpinnings or filling holes in a cast-in-place foundations or piles they use what's called non-shrink grout. It doesn't shrink as it cures like most all cement-based products. Paving stones bricks tiles etc basically expand n contract at very similar rates to cement/mortar which again is extremely minimal.....hope that answers ur question....(husband's a heavy-civil construction superintendent so I've been listening to him talk about wok for 20yrs lololol)
@Kregorius
Yes, expansion is main cause for cracked surfaces. No thermal expansion room = the whole thing is dogsfood.
