Why not show the SAG1021 AWG that is an option for the SDS1204X-E 4CH model only that plugs into the front USB connector? There is also a MSO option only available for this model with16 Digital channels that plugs into that propitiatory socket next to the USB connector.

Maybe you missed it, but this video is produced by one of the companies *selling* the parts, and made by their *marketing manager*. They are in business to make you want to buy their stuff! :-) No angst intended, just thought you may have overlooked that part.

Brad Hedges: I realize the relationship between the two companies. If they are selling this scope, the SAG1021 and the MSO Option I mentioned are for this scope only, no other model not even the 2 channel version can use them. I later found that the MSO Option won't be ready until March 14 when I tried to order all three components. I opted to only buy the oscilloscope for now and just received it today. Happy times.

Hi Jerry. Sorry I am a little late to the party. We actually didn't have any of the SAGs in stock when I did this video. The MSO option was also not ready for release at that time. As of 02/12/2018, these parts are all available. Hope that helps. Jason Chonko

I bought the SDS1204X-E and a SDG1025 AWG a few weeks back and I'm still having a blast discovering all the features of the scope. I would like to just order the MSO option now but I would be better informed if I wait to see a review or two first. I'm not very hopeful that this will happen as the reviews for the SDS1204X-E have all been done and this MSO option is for this scope only. Time will tell and I might just need to roll the dice and order it should no reviews be forthcoming.

I plan on doing a dedicated MSO and BODE plot videos for the 4X-E as soon as we receive the MSO hardware. If there is anything specific you would like to see, just shoot me an email at jason.chonko@siglent.com

1. is it normal if working 1204xe without any probes in shows 30-40-50 mv rms pulsation on Ch1-Ch3. And Ch4 about 2-3 mv rms. 2. 2042x generator outputs wrong voltage (double the value shown on display ) in "50-Ohm" mode. Changing to HiZ makes output correct again. Is it a bug or some logics of work?

1. in DC coupling about 14-15 mv for CH1-2. about 0-2 mv CH3-4. in AC coupling about 28 mv CH1-2 and 1-2 mv CH3-4. in GRD coupl. 14-15 mv for CH1-2 and about 0-1 mv for CH3-4. Looks like CH3-4 are more "clear". What V could it be? Bad PE line?

2. This is normal. The '50 Ohm' position is actually only displaying the accurate output voltage when the load is 50 ohms. The actual output voltage across the load will always be Vout * (R(load) / 50 + R(load)). The higher the R(load) is, the more accurate the HiZ displayed voltage value is. The selectable output impedance setting is merely doing the math and assuming the R(load) is either 50 Ohms or HiZ (at least several kohms).

Hi Jason - I just purchased a SDS1204X-E. Can you point me to a location where I can download the user manual? I've not found one for this scope on Siglent's "download" web page. The closest manual seems to be the SDS1000X-E_UserManual_UM0101E-E03C. Also, there does not seem to be an external trigger input on this model though I see that the two channel variant has such. Is there a way to trigger the scope from an external input? - Thanks - Jim

Hello hubercats. Thank you for watching the video and writing in. The SDS1000X-E is a series of 2 and 4 channel oscilloscopes. The latest user's manual is the SDS1000X-E version that you reference, but you can also find the latest here: siglentna.com/resources/documents/digital-oscilloscopes/#sds1000x-e-series The 2 channel X-E does have an external trigger input. The 4 channel versions do not, but you could simply use one of the input channels as the trigger, as each analog input has the ability to be selected as the input trigger source. You can write us at info@siglent.com if you have additional questions. Sincerely, Jason

Hi Jason - Can you tell me what it means when the “Slow acquisition” message shows up on the screen of my SDS1204X-E? I searched the manual to no avail. - Thank you - Jim

@@hubercats Hi Jim. The acquisition rate control adjusts the time interval between trigger events.. similar to holdoff. Slow decreases the max trigger rate and effectively decreases the number of waveforms per second that are shown on the display. It is similar to holdoff, but not as useful.

Siglent Technologies : Thanks, Jason. I don’t recall setting the scope for slow acquisition. Is there such a setting, or does the scope choose it automatically based on other settings? - Jim

What exactly do you need to do? A small amplifier with speaker (such as you can by from Best Buy) would make the signal generator output audible.

@@johanrinman6227 A kick drum sound is quite complex. You could sample the signal with a microphone and oscilloscope and send the stored waveform to the SDG to reproduce.
